Beeld and Die Burger report that Handre Pollard has indeed been snaffled up by the Bulls.

In addition, the contract was signed last year already!

So much for reports which intimated that his parents were still negotiating with various Unions.

This was indeed good succession planning by the Bulls, but where does it leave players like Louis Fouché, Tony Jantjies and Lionel Cronje?

Beeld is typically talking kak again
On 702 this morning the lad said he has not made a decision, nor signed anything with anyone
He will only consider his options after the Crawen week

  • 3

That goes for the Cape paper as well
The interview was with the young man himself

Koerante blaas die storie aan, maar as hy dalk wel by Bulle gaan teken, kan ek verstaan dat hy dit nie nou al wil bekend maak nie, anders drop die kapenaars hom uit die Cravenweek span uit !

Ssshh Lol, so the plot thickens!

Maybe whilst the two mangy dogs (read Buills and Stormers) squabble about this bone (Pollard), the Cheetahs can scoop him up I-see-stars

Seeing as we are the only team that encourages complete rugby, he should come to the Cheetahs!

9: van Zyl, Rademan, Pretorius, Ruiters
10: Goosen, Pollard, Franna du Toit, ag ok Jantjies can come as well (till the Lions roar again)
    11: Le Roux, Ulengo, Jacobs
    12: Strauss, Snyman
    13: Ebersohn, van Schalkwyk
    14. Benjamin, Rhule
    15: Daniller, Scheepers, Smit

    Sounds about right lol

Ok, So to CLARIFY… Beeld IS talking Kak.
    Hehe.

The reports have not only been denied by Pollard himself, but also by his dad, as well as WPRU.

And if you want to get technical, since he is still at an age group level, when a Union outside of the one he is currently representing makes him an offer, SARU rules dictates that his “breeder” Union must be give the opportunity to make a counter proposal.

Not only this, but AS with Cronje and Francis, we have seen that no one will usurp Steyn at the Bulls.

Much the same can be said of Grant at the Stormers, and then there is Catrikillis… but I get the feeling they will be easier to get past than.
Now, I know that I also believed and said that both Sadie and Engelbrecht will stay at the Stormers, and they did not.
Well, the hell good did it do for them?

Sadie has been overlooked on a few occasions, and JJ is being played out of position? The only reason that he is on the Bok group is because Heinie likes him (for good reason).

Then again, money will always be the biggest decider, and it seems like the Bulls just manage to make better offers. (As I have under good authority is what happened with the two above mentioned players)

    @ GG,

If the contract was signed last year, will the “new”SARU regulation be applicable? If the report is true, that he has signed, and it was done last year? Did the Bulls Mapoe the Stormers? Whistling

Farkit… everything these days are as clear as MUD!

    Hahahaha

    @ CH4

As far as i understand, once an (final) offer was made (before anything gets signed) the home Union must be given a chance to counter the offer.

The thing is, WPRU was never informed about such an ofer/opportunity.
Therefor, it seems like neither the Bulls nor the Sharks made any final decision.

On a differnt yet not unrelated note. I am one that STRONGLY believes there should be stronger regulations against poaching. Especially of players who are still in school, or in age groups.

Btw, of all the backs in the Bok team for Sat. Only two were not schooled in the Cape, namely Habana and Olivier (who shouldn’t be there itfp).

    You’re welcome ;-P
