28@ Cheetah4eva:I didn’t know any Stormers supporters could count to 4. I thought this was the reason the Stormers bigwigs changed to the defensive pattern, so as to save the embarrassment of not having to count past 2. Ever!
@ Cheetah4eva:
@ Just For Kicks:
Interesting, lack of try scoring by the Stormers,I haven’t thought of it that way until you two brought it up.
This is very ‘unlike’ traditional WP rugby, they have always been renowned for their ‘flair’ while the ‘traditional enemy’ up North used to be more tight/defensive like (especially during the days of Buurman van Zyl/Corrie Bornman).
Nowadays it seems that the State, Lions and Griquas have taken more to playing ‘total rugby’. Enjoyable and exciting ‘platteland rugby’, typical Free State through the years.
@ Pietman,
Ah! I sit corrected, thought Pelser was involved lol. Funny story though.
Think the Cheetah’s have 3rd highest points scored, and Stormers the lowest points against. The Cheetahs need to work on their defense as they come in with the 2nd highest points scored against. Stormers have the lowest bonus point score…can’t remember if they got a 4 try bonus point, or for losing by 7 points.
Another 3 team sheets added…. that of the Sharks, Hurricanes and Rebels
@ bos_otter,
Stormers got 1 bonus point for losing by 7 vs the Crusaders. They couldn’t even score 4 tries against the Lions, or the lowly Blues, but now all and sundry are predicting a 4 try bonus point. Not like the Cheetahs have been that bad, on defence. Sure they have lost a few games they should have won, because of defence, but that was against far better attacking sides that the Stormpoopies! Chiefs, Bulls, and Hurricanes, are the only sides that managed that.
@ Cheetah4eva:
Should e a good game. Might even see the Stormers forced to eat their hats hey? 🙂

Match is going to be closer than many think. Cheetahs are a better side than what they are being credited with, whereas the Stormers have not played nearly to their potential, attack wise.
Kitshoff vs WP Nel (Young upstart against experienced and technically sound campaigner) – Adv Cheetahs
Strauss vs Fourie (Livewire vs Gnarled veteran) – Adv Cheetahs
Verbrokkel vs Coenie “Shrek” (Only card Verbrokkel has, is years of ducking and diving penalties to superior players lol) adv Cheetahs
Front Row as a unit definately to Cheetahs advantage. Fourie is supposed to counter Brussow, but how can they expect him to do that, when he 1st has to get his head out of the Newlands turf after the scrum. And who is then going top counter Adriaan Strauss, Coenie, and Robert Ebersohn??
Eben vs Earle (Hot young prospect vs unknown) Adv Stormers
Bekker vs vd Westhuizen (Gnarled, but fragile vet vs unknown) Adv Stormers
2nd Row dominance for the Stormers for sure. A conundrum, to gain territory, you have to win the lineouts. Naka will have to work a strategy out.
Kolisi vs Ratel (Kolisi to sit down for exams) Adv Cheetahs albeit slight, Kolisis has impressed.
Elstadt vs Downey (Carthorse vs Greyhound) even stevens Elstadt is a brute, but he is also a tad slow
Carr vs vd Walt (vd Walt is very underrated as an 8, he does the basics very well) adv Cheetahs albeit slight
As a combination, the Cheetahs are faster, and more settled. With Johnson coming on later, vs Sinclair, it can get interesting. Johnson is no slouch
The possession stakes should be even, if the Stormers don’t commit to the rucks, they will be in deep poo. Cheetahs will look to outpshyche the Stormers by putting the heat on the front row of the Stormers
Duvenhage vs van Zyl (experience vs potential) the highest no of linebreaks by any SH in the competition, and with limited game time – adv Cheetahs
Grant vs Sias (Experience vs Flair) Sias is the complete opposite of pogun Grant. depending on quality of possession – even
Habana vs Jacobs (experience vs youth) Adv Stormers
Strauss vs Div (Experience vs well experience lol) even
JdJ vs Ebersohn (Cudgel vs the Rapier) De Jongh can’t pass the sugar at brekkie, but crash tackles. He will have to catch Ebersohn 1st, who can step – even
Aplon vs le Roux (experience vs Exhuberance) Both lightening quick, Aplon better on defence
Pieterson vs Daniller (both solid on defence) even
The Stormers backline has been good on defence, and will have to be again, if the Cheetahs get momentum on atack, they will have their hands full. Cheetahs just need to minimise mistakes, and run astutely. Cheetahs defence will have to be the best ever to blunt any Stormer attacks.
Cheetahs will relish the underdog tag. This game can go either way, my mind says Stormers, but my gut says Cheetahs. Cheetahs can beat the Stormers, because they know exactly what to plan for.
Cheetahs by 4
Only 3 Team Sheets not up yet..
.. and who else but the Highlanders being one of them… consistently last every week to name their side.
The 2 others outstanding are the teams for Sunday morning’s clash
“The last five matches between the Stormers and the Cheetahs have all been won by the Stormers whether they have been at home or away. The Since 2007, the Stormers have played the Cheetahs 7 times in total and they have won 5 or 71% of their matches against the men from Bloemfontein”….time for change 🙂
Goooo Cheetahs!!
The 2 Live Game Articles for tomorrow (Friday) is scheduled.
