McCaw has not played rugby since he captained the All Blacks to Rugby World cup glory in in October last year.
McCaw will not play in this week’s Crusaders match against the Hurricanes in Wellington and next week’s tenth round Waratahs match in Sydney.
However Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder told Radio Sport that McCaw could play in the eleventh round against the Reds in Christchurch.
“He went for a run yesterday under the guidance of our physio John Roche and Rochey reckons he’s never seen a man more possessed than Richie McCaw at the moment so I don’t think he’s going to be too far away we’re looking at two weeks time.”
Blackadder has also confirmed that Tom Taylor will continue to play for the Crusaders at first five and Daniel Carter will continue with the number 12 jersey.
Taylor shone in the crussders 31-24 victory over the Stormers as he scored all of the Crusaders points through a try, conversion and eight penalties.
