@ grootblousmile:
@ superBul:
Sadie is n Eben Olivier/Mannetjies Roux in wording, van sy Paarl se skooldae af. Hy is beter as De Jongh, veral sy handvaardigheid, hy gaan Springbok speel.
Quote from Supersport
The Stormers have yet to score four tries in a single game this season, and are the worse of the top 11 teams when it comes to number of tries scored in the first seven matches. The Bulls, by contrast, score a four try bonus point in virtually every game they win, and should be expected to do so against the Brumbies at Loftus on Saturday evening.
Not that the Stormers should be concentrating or concerning themselves with the four try bonus – what is important for them this weekend is just that they go out and prove that they can still perform without their three recognised team leaders – Schalk Burger, Jean de Villiers and Andries Bekker – who are now all out.
How the youngsters will go when those players are not around has always been one of the big question marks hanging over a Stormers team that up until now had been fortunate with injuries. How good will Eben Etzebeth be when he doesn’t have the experienced Bekker alongside him in the second row? How good will the Stormers be given the disruptions which see Juan de Jongh move to inside centre and Bryan Habana move from the wing to the midfield?
@ Pietman:
Hy het nie so bright begin in Pretoria gehad nie, ek wens ek kan hom op vorm sien. Daar is groot afwagting hierbo dat hy sy beste vorm vind.
20@ Pietman:
Howzit Piet,
I have not really seen him play much but from mostly what I have heard rate him and of course the bit I have seen. One of our youngsters that is actually a 4 lock, but covers flank pretty well too. So that pretty much covers Sharks at lock and flank.
Really do wish we had a fit Beast for the Chiefs game, would have been even more positive. Think Sharks will pull off a win here but only just. Well damn well hoping…………hahaha. Always hoping and supporting my Sharks Piet.
How you doint boeat? You still in Saudi? When do you get back to the Cape?
@ Puma:
Jeez too late for me..haha.
doint = doing… 🙄 hehe
@ Puma:
another typo. Boeat = boet
@ Puma:
Hiya Pumes,
Good job I logged on, realise I have to do my superBru…..You have had your ups and downs with that competition this year!! 😉
I just have NOT got into my stride this year….Note to self, ‘Must try harder’ !! lol
Hi BB and Puma, this weekends game between the Bulls and Brumbies will show how much Jakes little rant saves his bacon or distracts our focus.
39@ Blue Bird:
Howzit C. Good to catch up. Thought I was the only ‘Nighe Owl here’… 😉
Well this year I have not strictly selecting who I think will win have gone the other way to see if it works. Have come short doing that. Then go with who I think will win and IT STILL DON’T work…so kinda giving up really. Just going with a quick pick now at the start of the week to get it out the way. Probably not the way to pick up points I suppose. Just hope it works out this week. Cause I am falling like a rock all the way to the bottom…hehe.
How you doing? You doing any running these days? Or are you cycling more?
41@ Puma:
Typos are a part of me……….haha. Nighe = Night..lol.
40@ superBul:
Howzit Super,
Think Bulls will be just too good for Brumbies.
@ Puma:
Did you see Supersports predictions
SHARKS v CHIEFS (Durban, Saturday 5.05pm)
People keep writing and saying that the Chiefs were pushed by the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein last week, which they were on the scoreboard, but those who watched the game were left wondering afterwards how it came to be so close. The Chiefs were better, and significantly better, in almost every aspect of the game. They will be up against a fired up Sharks team this week as the Sharks are starting an extended home leg that could see them right into contention if they get onto a roll. With their bye next week, they also effectively bank eight or nine log points if they win. But while the hosts should push them, there are now too many good rugby reasons why the Chiefs should be favourites – better forwards, better defence, most creative backline in the competition. You never write off the Sharks at Kings Park but they are going to have to play really well to win against a team that should have targeted this game.
Prediction: Chiefs to win.
VODACOM BULLS v BRUMBIES (Pretoria, Saturday 7.10pm)
The prospect of having a South African coach bring an overseas team to Loftus to face the Bulls is an intriguing one, and it was interesting to hear Jake White talk earlier in the week how every effort will be made to undermine the team because that is just the way it is over here. What is going to be more interesting than any off-field psychological battle is how the Brumbies are going to play against the Bulls. On the evidence of what we have seen so far this season they will be trying to beat the Bulls at their own game, something they surely can’t do successfully. The Bulls should win with something to spare and with a four try bonus point to put them on the top of the South African conference.
See the Chiefs opted to stay up in Joburg at altitude. Well that was a positive move, but really don’t think 2 weeks at altitude will help that much. One needs to be training at least 3 weeks to have any benefit and that is the (very least to get a benefit) but rather 4 weeks to actually have a benefit. 6 weeks you are totally altitude conditioned. Such a difficult thing to really work out for players that don’t really live up in the highveld. But in my running days it was the players that lived up there that benefited and the runners that wanted to get anything out of altitude they had to be there more than 3 weeks to compete up there or get the benefit of the altitude to race at sea level, it was 4 weeks training at altitude that you felt the altitude conditioning working from the races you ran at sea level after training at altitude.
Just my experience. We all different (some bodies adapt better than others) so just have to see the benefit the Chiefs got staying up there for 2 weeks. It has become quite humid here again, so once again they could struggle with the humidity. So one never knows where it is best. Altitude is the best training, but need longer than 2 weeks otherwise don’t think you gain that much really, probably might lose some not being used to the humidity. Just need to see this Sharks/Chiefs game.
Time for me to go to bed, cheers

Super,
Chief are a very, very good side this year. Well coached and they have great players in every position. So yes it will be hard for my Sharks to beat them, but we are a far better side than we have been playing so far. If we cut down on all the mistakes we have made each player plays to their potential, we will beat this Chief side. Well easy said than done, but really think if the Sharks team finally can get it right we could be a lethal side. So far we in the games we have won we really have not played well at all, so if we can finally click from here on we could be a danger to many teams. That is if we can play like we should. Just have to wait and see.
We make far too many errors and then the stress builds up and we finally play like individuals than a team. Think if we finally get it right on Saturday the confidence as a team will build. Something we have been lacking in is team effort. Once we get that we could beat any team Super. I am that confident. We have the players and should be winning more. The games we lost was marginal could have gone either way.
On Saturday my biggest worry is that we have a kiwi ref!!! Really hate this reffing system, it does not work. Need to get back to neutral refs.
46@ superBul:
Cheers Super, Good to catch up. Hardly see you on the blog these days. Keep well boeta. Catch up when you have more time.
Okay I am out of here too.
All the best to all the saffa teams this weekend.
Go Stormers, Bulls and most of all my Sharks.
Cheers catch up tomorrow.
Good night to you Blue Bird. See you still logged on.
Catch up another time.
Puma and superBul…sorry I was distracted.
Hope to catch up with you both this weekend perhaps during some games! 🙂
Deyan Greyling is injured, replaced by Dawie Steyn. That is a slap in the face for Frik Kirsten.
@ Loosehead:
A lot was expected from Dawie and he had a good comeback from injury in the Vodacom side, i am looking forward to see him and see for myself how good he is. If he did not get his chance it would have been a slap in his face too. I say rather have 3 super props than 2, it is good to keep him also in the mix.
