Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske has revealed that he will start Sias Ebersohn at flyhalf against the Chiefs this weekend regardless of whether Johan Goosen recovers from a shoulder injury or not.

rugbyweek

Drotske said that the Cheetahs have already decided to start the match with Ebersohn at No 10 against the Chiefs.

Ebersohn was one of the Cheetahs stars last season but has dropped behind Goosen this season.

Ebersohn came on as replacement for Goosen against the Lions for Goosen last weekend and played for almost 40 minutes.

The flyhalf has been on the bench for all of the Cheetahs Super Rugby matches this season but has only managed to clock up 80 minutes in seven matches.

Coach Drotske said that the Cheetahs will decide on Friday whether or not Goosen will be named on the bench.

Drotske added that Springbok loosie Ashley Johnson will drop to the bench after a poor game against the Lions so he will be used as an impact player.

The rest will do the young flyhalf good, and Ebersohn is a more than capable replacement. Go Cheetahs

I’ve read that Goosen has already signed to go to the Sharks next year. Does anyone know whether that is true or just a rumour. Nevertheless, this Chiefs/cheetahs game is going to be something to watch. Cheetahs seemed to have hit their straps and if the play like they did in their last two games we might see another Cheetah victory.

@ McLook:That could set the cat amongst the pigeons!

That sure would create some interesting permutations. I would absolutely love it if the Cheetahs start to play to their true potential in the S15. Historically they always man-up in the CC but have this ‘Janie-jammer-gat-houding’ when it comes to the S15. This year they seem to have believe in themselves but probably won the Saders because they went to rest after leading 32-something due to underestimating the Cheetahs. The Cheetahs true test comes now namely winning matches when team show them respect and come at them.

@ McLook:Correction won the Highlanders and it should of course be Jannie and not Janie.

    @ Mc Look,

To my knowledge Goosen is contracted to the Cheetahs until end 2013. But with the sneaky, and immoral Sharks, you just never know. They might just try and “Mapoe” us again.

That said, since the Mapoe debacle, Mapoe has been sidelined 80% of the time.

Besides, under the Strauelli, Plumtree era, which self-respecting Cheetah would want to play there? lol

Geez, the Mapoe thing worked out brilliantly for us.
