Big prop Coenie Oosthuizen says, he aspires to trounce team mate Heinrich Brüssow, in terms of pilfering balls, at the rucks, and tackles.
In an interview with Jóhann Thormählen of Volksblad, Coenie spoke about his desire to be more than just a prop. He wants to add value to the team in many aspects. He goes on to say how him, and team mates WP Nel, and Adriaan Strauss encourage each other. If WP Nel scores a try, then Coenie wants to match that feat. Likewise, if Strauss carries the ball 20 meters, then Coenie wants to emulate that feat.
In particular, the 23 year old prop, affectionately known as Shrek, has a friendly competition with Heins (Heinrich Brüssow) to see who, can pilfer the most balls. This young man was earmarked as a great Bok prop in the making, by none other than the legendary Os du Randt. He has been selected for the Boks, but injuries have prevented him from starting. Surely a test start cannot be far!
I see that he has made both the Planet Rugby and Rugby365 team of the week.
Top of the morning to you Loskoppie,
Indeed, he is back ontop of his game again! I hope that we will hear some good news this week. News like the return of Juan Smith, and Lappies Labuschagne. Even though, vd Walt isn’t looking as prominent, I see in the stats that he is doing the hard graft. Even so, with Juan at 80% he is as good as most, and with him, Lappies, and Boom, we will be able to rest Brussow, without losing pace and penetration amongst the loosies.
Lappies at 6, to rest Ratel, Juan at 7, and Ash/Phillip at 8
It was good to see van Zyl getting a run at 9, hope his injury was not serious.
Go Cheeeeetahs
OK friends, off to the Airport… see you in a few days!
Keep the home fires burning and play nice….
Coenie vir president!!!….Go Coenie!!! 🙂
