  Western Province centre Juan de Jongh has signed a new contract, committing himself to WP and by extension the Stormers until end 2015. His current contract was due to expire at the end of this season.

  After watching the Bulls match last weekend, I really believe that the Stormers can take this one, as long as they keep their heads, not play the Blues game and Bash brings his boots to the game. I still think the Bulls were, by a long way, the stronger team, but were let down by their grey matter

  @ Lion4ever:The only thing the Bulls will be squeezing into the Stormers this weekend is the pins into their Voodoo dolls – in preparation for the game at the end of the month – The Bulls need all the help they can get!!!!!!

  I know this is a Stormers topic, but, interesting news! Lyndon Bray, has come out and admitted that Keith Brown basically shafted the Cheetahs in the scrums! Al very noble, but it still cost the Cheetahs 4 log points!

  People that are saying, the Cheetahs should still have closed out the match, answer me this. How do you close out a match, when you get penalised endlessly in every scrum? The 1st half only 1 penalty, and in the second 12?? Nope, you underestimate the effect that a ref can have on your momentum in a match!

  @ Cheetah4eva:I saw that, and read Lyndon Brays comments, and agree whole heartedly. A good piece I read on ruggaworld – http://www.ruggaworld.com/2012/03/13/fix-the-refs-not-the-laws/ makes for good reading on the fact that it is not the laws that are at fault necessarily, but the refs.

  I see he has also conceded that Walsh should have given the Bully Boys a penalty too! That was another contentious call, even though it wouldn’t have given the Bulls the win.

  Will definately go read the article you mentioned! Unfortunately, it’s a moot point, as ultimately, the Cheetahs lost 4 points! They just have to focus and hammer the Rebels, who surprisingly held the Reds at bay, though I expected a close affair.

  @ Cheetah4eva:Again, I think that the Aussie teams, especially, are becoming even more wily, and are spending all their time playing the ref, not the game. The Cheetahs, like all the SA teams are just going to have to find a way of counteracting this, and not getting caught. If we continue to play by the rules, I fear, we will lose every time. The wheeled scrum is a case in point. We all know that the Cheetahs didn’t wheel that scrum, and the ‘3 specialist’ scrum experts will say the same, but it is so hard, in the heat of the moment, for the ref to get the call right. The Aussie ‘kopcounters’ know this and adapt accordingly. Until the refs are able to ping them consistently, if we want to win, we must do the same.

  The New Zealanders learnt this last year, and have adapted accordingly, just watch the Bulls match. We must do the same. It’s called cheating, but we need to win.
