Those who saw an injury depleted Bulls team train on Monday, fear not, as all players not in action were on the sidelines as a precautionary measure.
The Vodacom Bulls team doctor, Org Strauss, confirmed that there were no serious injuries in the team after the Reds match at the weekend.
Although at least six players did not train on Monday, all should be available to play against the Stormers in Cape Town on Saturday.
Willie Wepener (ear), Chiliboy Ralepelle (flu), Werner Kruger (neck), Jacques Potgieter (neck and back), Jano Vermaak (back) and CJ Stander (head wound) sat out during the afternoon session.
A final call on the availability of Deon Stegmann will be made on Tuesday, Strauss said.
Amongst the Blue Bulls Vodacom Cup team, who plays the Leopards in Potchefstroom, Rayno Geber (heel) and Dawie Steyn (shoulder) will train tomorrow.
The Vodacom Bulls will be heading to Cape Town this weekend for the big showdown, and will unveil their new pink jersey for the first time at Newlands in the heated Vodacom Super Rugby derby against the DHL Stormers.
The away jersey caused much consternation when announced at the beginning of the season, and initially it was only to be used on the four away games overseas, but a potential clash with the Stormers jersey means the Bulls will run out in pink this weekend for the first time.
“We had a look at the two jerseys and there definitely is a clash,” Bulls manager Wynie Strydom confirmed to SuperSport.com, “So being the away team we will need to wear our away strip.”
While the team kit sponsors Puma are desperately trying to market it as the “purple jersey”, the overwhelming pink aspect overshadows the “Jacaranda effect” that the marketing boys have come up with and is sure to stir up some debate this week.
But even though they may get some stick for their jersey, the Bulls will head to Cape Town all confident after their 61-8 demolition of the defending champion Reds at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.
And once again it will be a classic battle between attack and defence, with the Bulls heading up the try-scoring list with a massive 17 after five rounds, while the Stormers could only manage seven.
On defence the teams are even, having conceded just five apiece, the stingiest in the competition, and the Bulls have conceded less points — 69 to the Stormers’ 74 while their Reds demolition puts them way out front with points scored — their 153 being the most in the competition thus far.
But the Stormers have one massive thing going for them — they are the only unbeaten team in the competition and have a knack of winning games they probably shouldn’t, as was witnessed at Coca-Cola Park in Johannesburg on Saturday night.
The grit and determination of the Cape team have made them the top team in the competition thus far, and while the Bulls are sure to arrive with so many positives going for them, the Cape team will be determined to get one over them after losing their home game in 2011 and the 2010 final to the Pretoria side.
Either way it will be a mouth-watering clash, one which will test the resolves, character and aspirations of both teams.
28@ Just For Kicks:
Just weighing up somethings there.
This is also a Saffa derby so doubt it will be a run away win for any team here. Just have to look at the Stormer/Lions game last week. Passion against each other is a totally different animal than playing a overseas side.
Could go either way. But really don’t see more than a few points win for who wins it.
Will be a tough match, no doubt, but Stompies should edge it because of home ground advantage. One can’t go on the results of the previous games as there were different factors at play. If the Bulls win, they will be the favoured SA team to top their conference, whereas if the Stormpoppies win, they will have only won their home game and still have to play the Bulls and Sharks away.
While it is true that the Stompies have amply demonstrated their weakness on attack, their defense is as strong as ever. If they are in the lead or the game is tight, the Stompies will likely pull it off. On the “udder hand Darren”, if the Bulls build up a sizeable lead it will be goodnight Eileen!
Bulls have shown the killer instinct necessary for a championship team, while the Stormers are in the safety first, defensive mindset that might get them to the semis again but is unlikely to take them further. If this match had been a semi-final, I would have gone with the Pink Bovines but as it is a home league match, I say the Stormpoppies will just scrape it.

Absolutely Turk,
Really can’t see Bulls running riot this weekend. I think Stormers might win this battle by anything from one to five. Home advantage does make a difference. Just have to see the Lions game last week. Thought Stormers were gonna thrash Lions but never did.
heard that in the eventuality of a bulls player winning the man (may i say that?) of the match award he or she will given a bouquet and a lovely fruit basket!!

Stegman and Wepenaar both declared unfit for Saturday
Lol if the pink abonimations weren’t enough, the Bulls team are providing further entertainment to us opposition fans. We now have a “Bumble Bee” award to Morne Steyn
Why do these images of Transformers come into my imagination
The Bulls are really in on the entertainment side of rugby, on and off the field. Firts they smash them into submission, though, there is a scientific study in the planning phase to determine, if the Bulls are not gaining an unfair advantage, by wearing erm “shades of blue/purple). It seems some teams renowned for their gentlemanly conduct, and chivalry (read Cheetahs) are subconciously, holding back in the tackles, and are less inclined to get “physical” with the Bulls, as a result.
The odd thing is, the Stormers are relishing the prospect of playing a team in pink!!
Lol, methinks more study is required, and if the rumours are true, the Bulls should be stripped of their log points vs the Cheetahs
cheetahs4eva_till_i_become_a_stormers_supporter @ 46
lmao … you should appeal bru

@ Cheetah4eva:
It is time to call them The Bullerina’s.
@ Ashley:
Geez Ash, you’ve really knocked it out of the park with your mockery of the Pink Bovines. I don’t know how any Bull-erinas will live this one down and be able to show their faces on this thread ever again. Methinks that Gbs is gonna have to find an excuse to shut this thread down pronto or there are going to be many Horned supporters in pink tutus committing suicide in their closets!
50 @ Loosehead:
Copy that Loskoppie, seems GBS is too busy doing damage control, to get the team sheets up! Naka is up first again, with his team, and no surprises, just the return of Coenie and WP Nel. This should be a cracker! Vrystaaaat by 6
Maybe the Pink Bullerina’s will have to employ a spin doctor, to repair the damage. Imagine the net result, if Liefling gets contracted as well. We will have he prospect of 50 000 “ravishing” beer bellied men in their pink tutus singing Lieflinnnnnnnnng uit volle bors, and then gettingan Bumble Bee “Steek”as a reward lol

54 @ Loosehead:
Oh Yesssss!! Him and Lappies were cooking with afgas, in the CC. Add Juan Smith to the mix, and the Cheetahs will be formidable in the lineouts and rucks again!
A team like this will make our opponents again!
Marcel vd Merwe, Strauss, Coenie (May as well groom him proper, seeing as WP is off soon)
Earl, vd Westhuizen
Brussow, Juan, Boom
van Zyl, Goosen
Le Roux, Strauss, Ebersohn, Jansen, Daniller
Bench: WP Nel/Nyakane, Lappies, Waltie, Sias, Rademan, Snyman….
It won’t please the bonehead poloticians, but they got us into this mess in the 1st place!!
Then we still have Ash, and Downey to rotate. Lappies to give Brussow a rest, and Downey/Ash to ease Juan’s workload.
lyrics: I wear pink
..
Because I wear pink I don’t have to think, I talk like a baby and I never pay for drinks
Don’t have to worry if I’m getting a man if I keep wearing pink and I keep these tan
Cause I wear pink yeah, yeah, yeah
Cause I wear pink yeah yeah yeah
I never learned to read and I never learned to cook
Why should I bother when I look like I look?
I know lots of people are smarter than me, but I have this philosophy, “So what?”
Cause I wear pink yeah yeah yeah
I took an IQ test and I flunked it of course, I can’t spell BW but I got a Porsche
Cause I wear pink yeah, yeah, yeah
Cause I wear pink yeah yeah yeah
…
(on the lyrics of “cause i’m a blonde” 😀
apparently 90 % of women don’t fancy men who wear pink
….
which is a bit of a coincidence
as 90 % of men
who wear pink
dont fancy women!! 😀
Why do scuba divers allways fall backwards as they dive?
..
Because if they fall forward, they will fall into the boat.
For me, the summer will be pure gray – mother-of-pearl gray, very pale gray. To me, this is the big statement for summer. Then we have light blue, light turquoise, lots of pink.

The tones of gray, pale turquoise and pink will prevail.
