The Hurricanes have suffered a double blow with the news that half back Chris Smylie has been ruled out for the season and loosehead prop Reg Goodes for six weeks at least.
Former Blues half back Smylie suffered a season ending shoulder injury the final pre-season match against the Chiefs in Taupo and unfortunately will not be able to play any further part in the Hurricanes 2012 Super Rugby campaign.
The halfback will undergo surgery on Wednesday and will be out of all rugby for 6 months so he will be replaced by Frae Wilson from the Hurricanes Wider Training Group.
Specialist loosehead prop Reg Goodes suffered a separate shoulder injury in the same match and has seen a surgeon for a specialist opinion.
Goodes will undergo a 6-week rehabilitation programme with the aim of him returning to the squad at the end of this period.
Come on Lions, hammer them!
