The Six Nations clash between France and Ireland in Paris on Saturday night will go ahead after passing a second pitch inspection.

Referee Dave Pearson gave the surface the all-clear on Friday afternoon but was required to carry out a further examination 90 minutes before the scheduled kick off with freezing temperatures engulfing the French capital.

Ireland fly-half Jonathan Sexton is an injury doubt for Saturday’s RBS 6 Nations clash with France after tweaking his thigh muscle in training.
The Leinster man suffered the problem in Friday’s kicking practice forcing Declan Kidney to call up Ulster’s Paddy Wallace as cover.

If the 26-year-old Sexton does not recover in time then Ronan O’Gara will take his place at No.10 while Wallace, who was due to play in Ulster’s win against the Dragons last night, will go onto the bench.

Agterspelers sal ek later oor mening lug.

Thinking about the England game, I can’t believe how shite they were, they were very lucky to have 2 easier games to start, but on this form, will be very surprised if they go any better

  • 15

    France by 10

  • 16

On current form, it’s between France and Wales at the moment.

@ The_Young_Turk:Well you’ve got it right so far!

  • 20

    17 @ superBul:

  • 21

Hello all, oh well just settled in at home to see the rugby called off.

  • 22

    @ Just For Kicks:
Yip, I think so too, with England and Ireland to battle for third and italy and scotland bringing up the rear.

18@ grootblousmile:Aweful, or woeful, don’t know what best describes them in that game. With comments like – “England showed a brand of enthusiasm and brute force to get the win”, Hodgson praises England resolve, Austin Healy reckons this England team “are turning into something special”. one wonders what we were watching!

  • 25

    @ grootblousmile:

  • 26

Reserve players have come out and taken their places… now waiting for the teams to emerge.

  • 27

21@ grootblousmile:Not yet, or that I can see – the Womens 6N was called off, and will be played tomorrow, but not this match yet

  • 28

    25 @ superBul:

  • 29

Yup, now they are calling it off

  • 30

    23@ grootblousmile:
Ye gbs unfotunately the ground along the touchline and just off field was frozen solid, they tried to get a few blowers on but in the end they have called it off, temperature is about -5C in the area at the moment and it cant have gone much if at all above zero whole day there, so for player safety they called it off.
