jfk @ 203
he is not the greatest batsman who have ever walked the planet!!!! 😀
209@ grootblousmile:Interestingly, they haven’t given it not as a 4, but as 2 runs, I wonder if thats a mistake, or I missed something, but I am sure I saw that ball get to the rope
@ Ashley:I’ve got my ears blocked, I can’t hear you!
jfk @ 213
oh i see, says the blind man
214@ Ashley:Where?
jfk @ 215
behind you 😀
Well done Sunfoil, what a brilliant donation
from cricinfo
..
This must be the first target to be reached of zero balls?

nog steeds ñ interessante opmerking!!
Well done AB, MOS thought Philander would get it, but AB deserves it just as much
212 @ Just For Kicks:
Also saw the ball reach the ropes… ag well, what does it matter…
AB gets Man of the Series
Kallis gets Man of the Match
SA wins the Series 2 – 1
1st onedayer 11th Jan, there should be a couple of new faces, and much excitement in my household, I can tell you
222 @ Just For Kicks:
The ODI’s should be interesting.
You know who the wider SA Squad will be from which the 11 is chosen?
AB de Villiers (capt & wk),
Hashim Amla
Johan Botha
JP Duminy
Faf du Plessis
Dean Elgar
Jacques Kallis
Rory Kleinveldt
Morne Morkel
Wayne Parnell
Robin Peterson
Graeme Smith
Dale Steyn
Lonwabo Tsotsobe
My team – Hash, Elgar, Kallis, Duminy, AB, Faf, Kleinveldt, Botha, Steyn, Parnell, Tsotsobe
225@ Just For Kicks:Bit of a risk up top, but we really need to blood some new players, and we bat down to 9 – Steyn can swing a willow a bit (as can Parnell – so he says), 5 up seam attack, and 2 spinners in the pot. Add to that, some top fielders, and a new young captain, and I think it’s a recipe for some good cricket
225 @ Just For Kicks:
I would not go without Philander (all-rounder), easy to just slot him in, in place of Parnell.
I would easily do without Duminy & Tsotsobe as well, preferring Alviro Petersen (bat) to Duminy and Morkel (bowl) over Tsotsobe.
I would not have used AB as wicket keeper, instead bring in Heino Kuhn, he is a better wicketkeeper and bats better than Tsolokile. Heino Kuhn in place of Faf du Plessis or Kleinveld, in my opinion.
Our bowling lineup will still be strong, with Philander, Steyn, Morkel, Kallis, Johan Botha (that’s a very good 5 man attack – 4 seam, 1 spin).
Our batting lineup will be strong too, with Amla, Kallis, AB, Heino Kuhn, Alviro Petersen, Johan Botha, Vernon Philander and even old Dale Steyn all very capable with the willow (8 very good batsmen), apart from the blooding of 2 new youngsters and Morkel who sometimes swings the willow well in ODI’s.
We have 2 wicketkeepers, there’s enough experience, good leaders… balanced in my view.
The guys I would not go for adds nothing special, specially Duminy, he bats too slow and tickles the ball all over the place in stead of getting enough boundaries. Parnell just does’nt cut the mustert compared to Philander, both with ball in hand and bat in hand. Morne Morkel I would take any day over Tsotsobe.
AB de Villiers is too valuable as fielder in the field and too busy and important with the bat in hand to give him the tiring job as wicketkeeper.
Pity Roelof van der Merwe is not somewhere in the mix as well, he has the vibrance and passion I like for the ODI’s… that energy and urgency just shines though… and he bats and bowls well.
GBS, All well and good, but non of the players you named are in the squad, I am just working within the parameters of the given squad – that is unless it has been changed since I last saw it!
My only reason for Tsotsobe over Morkel is that I think he needs some space to sort his head out and get back into form before the next series
Well done Proteas!
229 @ Just For Kicks:
Yip, I bet the Cricket Board did not know Philander was going to take things by storm, like he has done.
I take your point about Morkel.
Let’s see what happens…
Right guys, outta here, catch up later and really looking forward to some top rugby and cricket over the next couple of months.
All the best to all RT bloggers for 2012.
Well done to the Proteas on winning this series. Though really wanted them to win this one by a innings..lol. Only 2 runs prevented us. Winning by 10 wickets is great though but we struggled at one point to bowl them out.
Now for the odi’s and then the Series in New Zealand.
Think Morkel should be dropped for the youngster that got 8 wickets in the test in Durbs. Only change I would make.
Philander was outstanding this test series.
233 @ Puma:
Best wishes to you and yours too, Oerwoudkat!
What’s news in your neck of the woods?
225@ Just For Kicks:
Interesting team chosen from the available squad, will be good to see if Elgar can make the step up. No Smith, maybe being freed from the pressure of captaincy will see him return to the form he is capable of and as he is in the squad he won’t be doing that for his domestic team. Agree no place for Morkel who has not been good against Aus and Sri Lanka. Would have Robin Peterson ahead of Botha, he did well at World Cup and from the stats looks like he has done much better than Botha in the One day cup. As you say AB is the only keeper in the squad so thats where he will play but I think its asking a bit much for him to be new captain star batsmen and keeper, plus agree with GBS that he is so valuable in one dayers as a quality fielder, the only other one I see comparable to him close fielding wise is Dumminy and add to this a part time spin option also sees Duminy get the nod as you have. Don’t know much about Kleinveldt so will be interesting to see how he does, hope Parnell can deliver on his earlier promise.
235 @ Bullscot:
Bull, bull Bullyyyyyyyy!
How’s the weather?
Hehehe
233 @ Puma:
Hello Puma thanks all the best for this year for you too! Going to be a busy one for the Proteas, they also play England in our summer and more after that.
234@ grootblousmile: No news my side. Just bloody HOT and humid…hahaha. Hate the humidity, but the price I pay for living in such a great place…… 🙂
Can’t wait for the rugby, seems like years since we last saw our teams play.
See the smiley never worked in my last post. This one should though…lol.
236@ grootblousmile:
Hello gbs, nae bad today not much wind and dry so far but its already getting dark now as the sun goes down so early still this time of year 🙁
