Seriously though, how bad is it, I haven’t been following the news?
@ Just For Kicks:
Ha, it is a terrible old Ford, honestly it would be the last one here you would want!!
I hear most of the tractors stolen from British farms find their way to South Africa, it is huge business!!
Great catch Kallis. @ Blue Bird:I wonder where they go, I’ve never heard of that.
@ Just For Kicks:
Probably stolen to order, straight down to the docks, into a container and onto a ship!
A huge problem.
The gales should be passing but still very windy here. Lots of trees down and damage to buildings not too bad tho generally! However, Scotland took a big hit and loads of homes wtill without electricity!
@ Blue Bird:My parents in law live down in the SW of Scotland, & went shooting today, either the winds not too bad, or they are after some fast high birds! But yes, I saw that the power lines are down pretty much everywhere
Another beauty by Kallis in the slips, and it’s bye bye Jayawardene
101@ Blue Bird:
Hello Blue Bird just up and as I look out my window can see a lovely yellowy tinge on the few clouds that are about and judging from the movement of the trees it must be a bit breezy out there.
106@ grootblousmile:
Congratulations on your sons good news GBS, these are really proud moments for a dad! Good marks for your boy will he going on to University or are you letting him have a ‘gap year’ of travelling?
106@ grootblousmile:
“University exemption” now there was a term that always caused me confusion, does that mean that you don’t need to go to University when you get that???
146@ Blue Bird:
Sorry to hear you’ve had some damage from the wind Blue Bird, yip it has been a windy time quite a few big storms this winter but so far now damage here although can see some of my little trees are leaning a bit more than I remember after Tuesdays winds.
155@ Just For Kicks:
Your parents in law may have taken a battering down there on Tuesday then JFK it was pretty wild with lots of damage especially through the central belt where it was the worst! Lucky it was “tweede nuwejaar” holiday up here so it could have been worse as it happened from around mid normal morning commuter time.
161@ Bullscot:you’re quite right, they did. Just been looking at some of the photo’s on the wires, looks like a bit of damage has been done. Where are you?
Finally on to the cricket Sri Lanka in their second innings now 130/4 still trailing by 211 runs with 4 overs left for the day. Seems it has been quite a different day to the first two with more wickets falling on day 3 than day 1 and 2 combined!
It’s been a strange days play, 14 wickets, but some how just hasn’t quite captured the imagination somehow.
164@ Just For Kicks:
Ah thats a pity man, some of the realtime footage coming from Glasgow was quite something to see, winds are the region topped 160 km/hr at times! Here in the northeast in the “oil capital of Europe” although it was bad luckily wasn’t as bad as that.
165@ Bullscot:And the temperature up there?
@ Just For Kicks:
Yes while its nice to have ones team in a commanding position I feel test cricket is more exciting when its a close contest that ends on day 5, even if it is a draw; you can get boring wins and exciting draws. Doesn’t look like this one will get to day 5, haven’t been too many recently which have. You have to feel for WP cricket, after the fiasco of the Aus test ending so soon they seem to have come up with a good batting wicket at Newlands and although going on longer this one should still end a day early, thats going to deny them quite a bit of takings which they should have got from a Saturday crowd.
Hello Loosehead see you just appeared as logged in, how are you doing?
Close of play Sri Lanka 138/4 still 203 runs behind, at least there is an unbroken 40 run partnership between the current two, how long will Sri Lanka manage to bat tomorrow, for the sake of the game hope it somehow manages to last into day 5.
Stumps. Day 3, 138/4 SL f/o. Again, missed much of the days play, but the ‘chokers went about their job with utmost professionalism today. 14 Wickets in the day, with an enforced follow on. Good tight bowling and some awesome fielding (bar a couple of mishaps, read – Boucher), has brought about a situation where tomorrow should just be a formality. The SL’s certainly threw away a couple of their wickets, and could possibly have dug in a bit more, but I think that in reality, what with Kallis’ double ton, it was always going to be a huge mountain to climb. We should, barring some major upset, see the conclusion of the match tomorrow.
Sorry… was very busy here with some legal correspondence between myself and the fools who owe rental…
Engen Petroleum Limited suddenly wanted to sommer postpone the yearly increase to 1 July 2012, whereas they have applied the yearly increase (8% or the CPI Inflation Rate, whichever is the higher percentage) every beginning of January.
They chose the wrong induna to hassle with because I have just shifted them back to (within contractual rights) to increase it from SIX months ago, and for every year in the last 10 years, PLUS compounded interest for the past 10 years late increase!
That’ll teach them to fark with a prokurower!
Wow, some nice wickets fell and I missed it all.
171@ grootblousmile:What did you expect, they’re an oil company, it’s their right, just as Shell don’t have to clean up their mess in Africa. They can do as they please.
Hopefully by time get to pop in tomorrow the game will stil be on. Have posted a bit about six nations rugby on other thread, cheers vir eers.
@ grootblousmile:
Love it when a plan comes together…At least the cricket is a bit better this time around. Looked like a seriously lekker day in Cape Town!!! Nice and hot….Station bar for a few beers afterwards.
emoticons not working?
175 @ 4man:
Some of the Emoticons are working (most), some of them not (couple of the birthday ones and the one you used)… I’ll have to check what’s potting… when I have time!
Did you see my BonzaiGBS got his matric results today….
@ grootblousmile:
No…I didn’t see…I’m sure he did well, but give me the scores?….En se vir hom baie geluk.
@ grootblousmile:
i assume you got my Christmas newsletter?….you ou’s never let me know, then I start doubting myself.
172 @ Just For Kicks:
They can get knotted, I have a Notarial Deed of Lease for 5 x 5 years (25 years) to rely upon, duly registered in the Deeds Office, PLUS all my correspondence in place.
If they’re not careful I will consider cancelling against them for Breach of Agreement, kick them and their tennents out, rent out to one of the other Oil Companies on a new lease, re-sell the existing operator’s business to new operators…. and fark them right though the ears!
The place is in an absolute PRIME SPOT, right on the main road to Mamelodi, in Silverton, Pretoria.
The place pumps 450 000 liters of feul a month!
177 @ 4man:
He got a destinction for Math, did well in the other 6 subjects, got full University Exemption…
… the boykie did me proud!
178 @ 4man:
Got your Christmas newsletter… was during that last hectic week before I closed shop over the festive season, things were hectic then!
