Stellenbosch University’s Maties have defeated English club Saracens’ second team, the Storm, in a friendly game in Stellenbosch on Wednesday.

Maties won 28-26, after trailing 21-14 at half-time.
According to the Saracens website, the Storm scored tires through Kameli Ratuvou, Scott Spurling and guest players Mark Hodgkiss and Nicholas de Jager, but the home side crossed four times in the scorching Cape Town heat.
Scott Spurling descibed the game as one of the hardest he has played in and centre Joel Tomkins admitted he’d never played in such hot conditions.
The game also saw a return from injury for Hayden Smith and Michael Tagicakibau.
