Jantjies was one of the Lions stars in the recent Currie Cup but won’t be risked in the warm up matches as the Lions will play Butch James instead.
“We’re not too bad, we’re managing fitness on a number of players,” Mitchell said.
“Elton has a broken bone in his hand, and we certainly won’t risk him in the pre-season games. ”
“We will maintain a conditioning focus as we prepare for the season,” Mitchell added.
Having won the Currie Cup the Lions are riding a wave of confidence and Mitchell wants to ensure they hold on to that confidence heading into the Super Rugby season.
Jantjies is very injury prone, for a youngster who has’nt had years in the saddle with injuries having mounted up.
Is he the new “Sicknote” flyhalf in place of Yo-yo Pretorius?
