Off to Mooiplaats now and then to Menlyn…. only back thereafter.

Drinks. 34/2 Sri Lanka
AB takes second power play option and brings on the Phalaborwa Express to lead the attack
After a bit of drizzle at Buffalo Park this morning, it looks like it is clearing to become a lovely day
Although run rate only 3.00, SL looking a lot better than Wednesday. Lets hope they can post a decent score today
Tharanga gets to his very pedestrian 50 off 69 balls. 4 X4 and 1 X 6. Excellent bowling and fielding has kept the SL innings from accelerating. Run rate being kept to a very measly 3.28
Morkel returns to the attack and he strikes immediately! Tharanga edges through to AB, he’s gone for 66. SL 105-3 after 28.3.
Jayawardene needs to come to the party now, if SL are to have any chance. Some shots are going to have to be played. SL really behind the 8-ball now
Been very impressed with AB’s captaincy so far, real live wire, his keeping has been top form – much better than Bouchers of late, it has to be said, field placings good and bowling options very good, bringing on Peterson in the 12th over was inspired.
Morne back on, as SL take the batting power play
Steyn on from the other end, SL just not finding the spaces and boundaries in their power play yet, runs coming in ones and twos, and that’s just not going to do really.
And Jayawardene gone for 19 off 26 . Caught by a diving Steyn off Morkel. Bowlers working well in tandem! SL 140/4
Kulasekara smacks a beautiful 6 off Steyn over mid-wicket
Best over for SL came in that last one, Kulasekara smacked Steyn for 2 X 4 and 6
Thats Kulasekera’s cameo innings up. Caught by a diving Pieterson on the long on boundary off Tsotsobe for 22 off 13. SL164/5. Chandimal gets to his 50 too off 84 balls
Chandimal playing his shots now, SL have accelerated to 4.4/over now. Still some work to do, but Chandimal holding this innings together well.
Although slow, SL looking much better. Scoring at around 9/over in the last 5 or so, project score 250, at least this will be a bit challenging for the ama-chokers, and may make for an exciting finish
SL swinging the bat now, and they mud, plenty of wickets left. 50 partnership comes up off 41 balls
Chandimal moves to 89 with another 4, Steyn goes for 7 in that last over
Final over in SL innings, what can they do?
Sri Lanka finish with 236/6. Matthews loses his wicket with the last ball, chipping it to mid-off. A slow scoring effort, probably 40 – 50 shy of a good score. Proteas should knock these runs off, but lets see how Malinga and his mates get going in the next innings
Proteas innings starts with a run apiece from Amla and Smith off Malinga
21/1 off 5 overs, Ama chokers going along nicely, yes, Smiths still there. Could this be the one for him?
It certainly takes a lot for that Smith ship to change direction. Great candidate for a run out, me thinks. Coming down the wicket for a quick single and then being sent back make Smith look like the QE II trying to avoid the pirates off Somalia
Amla looking in good form, 25 off 23 deliveries
At the moment, it’s looking just too easy for the SA side, SL desperately need some wickets to reign in the runs a bit
This is a real opportunity for Biff to play himself back into form. He has seen off the new ball now, it’s a slow pitch, and there’s minimal swing. He’s scratched his way to 21 off 36 so far, and although he’s still not looking at his best, he’s hanging in there. A ton today from him is required.
72/0 after 14, with 7 bowlers used already by SL. They’re not going to win a match that way!
7 bowlers used, and back to Malinga for another go. Bowling power play taken, can he do some damage now?
