Oi vei, that’s not a good score for the Cheetahs against a decidedly 2nd String Kings side which did not even include EP Kings players!

  • 2

Hmmm on the surface, it doesn’t look too impressive, but I will hold judgement, till some kind of match report surfaces. In warm ups, stranger things have happened.

Ratehr have a narrow victory and build momentum, whilst having a bit of perspective, than a runaway victory and a false sense of accomplishment.

Sometimes these 2nd string sides can be a real pain in the ass!

According to a report on rugby365, the Cheetahs ran all their penalties, which could have resulted in significant points gained, with the accuracy of Goosen,s boot.

I know it’s easy to expect a thrashing, but bear in mind this was the Cheetah 1st hit out, they will improve, as the cohesion improves. Still 5 tries to two, which tells a story.

    3 @ Cheetah4eva:
It means the Cheetahs LEAKED 2 tries against very, very average players and against a very missmatch team.

If the Cheetahs ran everything, where is the drubbing they SHOULD have handed the Kings 2nd Team?

It was the Cheetahs 1st hit out for the season, sure… but it was the Kings B side’s 1st hit of the season too AND their 1st hit out EVER.

Not good enough from the Cheetahs, not good enough…. but then again, it was only a warm-up game and means nothing in real terms.

As you say GBS, it was a practise run. Besides, it was fans that were punting a drubbing. Ill conceived considereing that the Cheetahs approach, might differ radically from theirs. I’ll reserve judgement till the real warm up matches vs Stormers and Bulls start.

VRYSTAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT! As the ex Bulls and new Boks coach says: there are 2 types of rugby, winning and losing. The Cheetahs won.

  • 7

Ha ha, Loskoppie, jy al weer skerper as ‘n Minora?

    6@ Cheetah4eva:
If they won by 90 points the comments would have been the same.

    6 @ Loosehead:
You know what, Heyneke is right… and the Cheetahs won, after trailing at halftime.

But a win is a win.

Will be interesting to see what the Stormers & Cheetahs do to one another next weekend.

Lol, jip true that! Interestingly enough, all the “Queen’s” points were scored in the 1st stanza. As you say GBS, lets hang fire till the heavy artillery gets rolled out

    10 @ Cheetah4eva:
You know what, in the Bulls best seasons, 2007, 2009 & 2010, their warm-up games were pathetic…. yet those were the 3 years they won Super Rugby.

What I’m trying to say is… yes warm up, but more importantly is to answer the internal questions of your coach and his staff.

What is paramount however is to come out guns blazing from the FIRST game of the actual competition! When you do well from the start, it reflects on the Log, and when you top the Log or sit close to the top, your confidence levels naturally soar, which in turn bodes well for the strongest muscle… the one in the head!

Agree fully, that isexactlywhat cost the Cheetahs in seasons past, particularly last season. Losing 4 on the trot. Seems the Cheetahs coaches have highlighted the same stat. I think this is going to bea good year for SA Rugby

    @ Cheetah4eva:
I would have loved it to start against the overseas teams and then take on the home conference teams. We will almost destroy each other in the local derbies. Hope we play a game where we put a lot of emphasis on attack and dont worry too much about the big margins , but rather the bonus points. I know it is totally impossible because we in SA try our best to destroy each other. New Zealand like to play a more skillful game against each other, or am I dreaming?

    @ Superbul
Agreed, little finesse there. The SA derbies are brutal, but then again, the early scheduled tours, might prove the difference this year for the Cheetahs anyway.

We play the Lions, then Bulls, then head off on tour.
