The Third Tournament of the HSBC Sevens World Series 2011 / 2012, known as the Nelson Mandela BaySouth Africa Rugby Sevens tournament played on 9 and 10 December 2011.
This week the tournament was in OUR back yard, the first games started at 11:37 on 9 December 2011, SA Time. We only had a lively general Discussion Article and not a Live Article with Score Updates as the games proceed.

Last week, the Dubai leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series went totally cookoo, with all the big guns falling out and underperforming and having ordinary tournaments by their standards.
This time New Zealand just pip South Africa to the post, winning the tournament in a thrilling Final, by 31 / 26.
The next HSBC Sevens World Series tournament will be held in Wellington, New Zealand on 3 and 4 February 2012.

Eish, my Father in law is at home now, after Handbriekie collected him from hospital, but as deurmekaar as they come. It’s not nice to see!
Apparently the doctors say it’s the infection, which affects the head… I think it’s a lack of oxygen to the brain.
He’s doing strange things, like looking for a needle in a leatherman torch – absolutely desperate and adament to find it.
I just hightailed it out of there, would never have made it as a doctor.

Fark, I cannot even bear to watch when they stick a needle into someone else!
Looking after one’s own injury, or receiving a cut and bleeding yourself, does not phase me… but when it happens to others I freegin shudder. Hell I do not even watch TV programs like ER or hospital dramas… simply freaks me out!

@ grootblousmile:My mother in law had a horrific accident up in Richards Bay 6 years ago – was out from Scotland on holiday. She was in a coma for a few days, smashed her hip – she’s in her late 70’s. She has never got her mind back properly. Over the last few years she has got better, but in the beginning she was just like your pa in law. Still today she call me by the wrong name.
I have never understood how people watch those medical programs. I think they have a sadistic streak, and enjoy watching the pain and blood, even though it’s not real.

A long pass to Owen Williams on the wing, as Owen Williams doubles around and takes the pass from Owen Williams and over the line and gives it to Owen Williams to dot down, as he was the only Owen Williams who hadn’t scored yet

My one Sister in Law is an anesthetist (spelling??)… in Afrikaans it is a Narkotiseer.
She specializes in putting babies who need head surgery or heart surgery to sleep… apart from doing the usual. Freegin hell, we would be visiting there and she would be called out. She would waltz past and say “Ek gaan net gou ‘n kop doen, sien julle later”
