Lots of cloud cover at SuperSport Park, Centurion
Dale Steyn on a hat trick ball first up… and it’s a goodie……. big appeal for LBW.
Given not out, SA asks for a referral….
Missing the wickets…. not out
Paranavitana hurt from that 1st Dale Steyn ball.
He’s gone down in a heap…. big fat lammie on the leg
Sri Lanka gets 4 runs from over 1
Philander strikes in his 1st over.
Sri Lanka sends it upstairs for referral.
Sri Lanka successful in their referral… not out.
Just pitched outside the line.
Sri Lanka living dangerously….
Whoop, whoop!
Si Lanka 11 / 1
Philander strikes clearly this time!
Dilshan OUT!
Dale Steyn strikessssssssss…. in a wicket maiden over, straight after the Philander wicket over!
Paranavitana GONE!
Sri Lanka 11 / 2
Jayawardene & Sangakkara now in, the 2 big guns from Sri Lanka…
Get them out and it’s all over bar the shouting!
Sounds like an exciting mornings play, Bouchy with some well needed runs under his belt, and 2 down already.
222 @ Just For Kicks:
Yip… it’s been good!
3 wickets in an hour…
222 @ Just For Kicks:
Your irrigation shit sorted out?
Philander in fine form, Sangakkara playing all round that ball
224@ grootblousmile:Yup, happy vines again, and decided to go for a swim in the dam with the kids, at last, we have some decent weather – hope it lasts.
Some one said to Philander, ‘line and length’, and he’s really taken it to heart. Perhaps someone should mention it to Morkel too.
20/3 after 8. SA really in the hot seat at the moment, this could be all over today – then what will you boys in chwwaaaanni do?
Wicketttt! Run out, Jayawardene. Kallis off his own bowling for 15. SL 37/4
Absolutely needless run out, and an over or two before lunch. It really was a suicide dash. Thats both SL’s best batsmen out.
Angelo Matthews just makes it, according to the rules, because he had been off the park for so long, his was only allowed to come out to bat from 12.17pm, that last wicket fell at 12.23pm, thus allowing him to bat. Alas, though, because of the NEW laws, he is not allowed a runner, and it sounds like he has a pretty bad hamstring injury, so that is really going to hamper his running – and perhaps even his batting. We’ll see
SL 38/4. Lunch, day 3. Been an interesting morning – though I’ve missed most of it, the pitch still seems to be giving some assistance to the bowlers prepared to use it, and it’s certainly been SA’s session this morning. Bouchy got to his 50 and then played on to 65, ably supported by that brand new all rounder – Tahir (who predicted that!!!!). After that, it was the Philander show once again. 2 wickets to him, whilst 1 from Steyn, ably supporting him form that other end. Morkel, although with much assistance from bowling coach Alan Donald, seems to have started where he left off – all over the place. He’s still struggling with that run up, and that means he is just not able to get the rest right. At this rate, it should all be over by tea.
I don’t want you choking over your lunch, attempting to finish it as quickly as you can, not wanting to miss the start of the afternoon session incase it’s all over before it starts, I’ll leave you with a short Freddie Truemanism:
Australia were fighting for a win nearing the end of a Test Match. Fred Trueman was at the crease. The Aussie captain had plenty of close-in fielders around the bat, whose shadows were falling on the wicket. Freddie found this objectionable, and pipes up ‘Ere, if you lads don’t back off, I’ll appeal for bad light!”
Hello everybody! JFK that means you]. What a brilliant day in Cape Town.
@ Loosehead:Sorry, missed you, went for another swim in the dam – yup, awesome day here in paradise.
I see that Philander has bagged another one, and Morkel one too. Both Samaraweera and Matthews, the two batsmen at lunch were obviously missing their pudding and made early departures from the crease to make sure the rest of the gannets in the hut didn’t polish it off before they got back.
Another from the great Freddie Truman:
The scene was an Ashes test with England fielding ….. ‘and I went back to my mark and hurtled into the wicket, a rap on the pads, Howzat? One for none.
I went back to my mark and hurtled into the wicket and the bails were off, two for none.
Then in came the great Sir Don Bradman. I went back to my mark and hurtled into the wicket, the ball was in the air, a fantastic catch on the long on boundary, three for three hundred and seventy six.
Drinks. 94/6
Wickettt! Perera. Bowled Steyn, caught Smith for 21. SL 104/7
Interesting situation in the lead up to that wicket… Tahir bowling, Perera smacks the ball for six. Ball lands in a puddle, so ball changed. Boucher realises after a couple of balls there is a problem. It’s a kookaburra regulation ball, not a kookaburra test ball. YOu cannot use this in a test. Perplexion reigns amongst the umpires as to how the ball got into the case. Eventually ball changed for correct one, given to Steyn, and wicket.
