30 @ Just For Kicks:
Oh fark!
Bwahahaha
Don’t make Pasta then….
I only make a few things…. braai, biltong, Boston butt, home made ice cream, traditional roosterkoek, buttermilk rusks, souskluitjies (cinamon dumplings). For the rest, my hands are round and turned inwards and spastic!
I also don’t do dishes…. nada, boggerolli, fokkoli!
31 @ grootblousmile:
No wait, I’m good at making something else as well….
Ek kan goed kak maak!
Hahaha
32@ grootblousmile:Hahaha, I try to avoid kak where the wife is concerned, it saves all the hassle that comes with it!. Whats Boston Butt? Sounds intriguing
Apart from the ball doing the odd thing off the pitch, and even that isn’t much, it’s all gone pretty quiet on the field.
As things are pretty slow at the moment, I thought I’d explain how to play cricket according to my mother’s tea towel:
“You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that’s in the side that’s in, goes out and when he’s out, he comes in and the next man goes in until he’s out. When they are all out, the side that’s out comes in and the side that’s been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out. When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game”.
4 slips, a gully and point for Morkel – a few balls have gone through that vacant 4th slip/gully area, about time they plugged that gap
Looked like a wicket, but not given, and Smith doesn’t use a life line. On replay, clipped trouser leg. Good decision
Tahir into bowl very early, only 20th over
It’s just easy runs, letting SL off the hook.
Wicketttttt! Paraanavitana bowled Philander for 32. – 66/3
Philander in the thick of it again, has had a hand in all the wickets so far
Steyns last delivery swinging prodigiously
So, lunch on day 1 of the first test. An up and down morning, green pitch, 3 wickets to the good, but some pretty average bowling by all the bowlers. Some scattered deliveries, lengths up and down, a couple of wides and no balls – although they began to tighten up just prior to the break. The bowlers will have a good talking to by the Captain and Coach, and will come out after lunch with a much tighter line, I am sure. Round 1, SA, but could have been more convincing. Enjoy the Macaroni Cheese boys.
Something to chew on over lunch:
A seven year old South African boy was at the centre of a courtroom drama today when he challenged a Pretoria Supreme Court ruling over who should have custody of him.
The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents, and the judge awarded custody to his sole aunt. The boy protested that his aunt beat him more than his parents and refused to live there. When the judge suggested that he live with his grandparents the boy claimed that they beat him more than anyone.
The judge dramatically allowed the boy to chose who should have custody of him.
Custody was today granted to the Springboks Rugby team, as the boy firmly believes they are not capable of beating anyone.
Lunch a thing of the past, SA need some wickets in this session to make the toss count. They would have been happier with at least one more in the hut before lunch, so really need to make this session count.
Wickettttt! Jawardene bowled stein caught Smith at 1st slip for 30. – 91/4
Wicketttt! Samaraweera bowled Morkel, but it’s a no ball. He’ll be called back. Morkel, get it together, you’ve got Marchant breathing down your neck
Morkel has really struggled today, can’t get his run-up right, no balls, too many balls down the leg. At this level of cricket, it is unacceptable in my book. Pull back the pace a bit, focus on line and length, bowl wicket to wicket until you get your rhythm back, and start again.
As I suspected, Morkel has been pulled and Kallis is up
Morkel back on, but continuing where he left off. Far too full, on leg stump, clipped through mid off for four
two balls later – short, wide , outside off, and, you guessed it, 4 runs the result
13 runs off that Morkel over. He’s not a happy chappy at the moment
More food for thought. Following up on my post about my mothers tea towel, Grades cricket – a form of cricket played in Scotland, and almost the same as normal cricket – came up with the following explanation or variation of the game:
“You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. The side that is in is trying to win, as is the side that is out, but not in. But once the side that was out, but not in, becomes the side that is in, the side that was in, but is now out, (even if not all of their men were out, when they were in), must get all the men, of the side that is in, out and, if all the men, of the side that is in, are out, then the side that is out, but not in, wins. However, if the side that is in decide they can’t win, then the men in the side that is in, try not to get out, (even if they’re in) and the men, waiting to come in, hope the men, who are in, stay out so that they don’t have to go out and try to stay in. The side who is out hope the men who are in, get out, so they can get the men who come in, out. The side who is out (but not in) are still trying to win, but the side who is in, (but not all out) are no longer trying to win. If two of the men (of the side that is in) are not out, then the side that is out (trying to win) and the side that is in, but not out (and not trying to win), draw. And neither the side that is in, but not out, and the side that was out, but not in (and trying to get the side that is in, out), wins”.
10 off that Morkel over, and it’s time for drinks – 134/4
Is Graeme Smith out yet?
@ Loosehead:Yup, but out in the slips, I am afraid, which means he’s still in the field!
2 X 4’s from that Kallis over. We haven’t made enough use of that new ball. Now that it has got a bit older, on a pitch that is as soft as a sponge, means that the ball is only going to slow down, sit up and begged to be smacked to the boundary.
Tahir now on, but will he stem the flow of runs?
56@ Just For Kicks:
So he hasn’t gone out for a duck yet?
3rd fifty coming in just 36 deliveries. This is one day stuff, and just shows how poor the bowling has been from SA
58@ Loosehead:No, he’s been waiting for you, he didn’t want you to miss another of his innings!
