Former Springbok & Sharks centre Adrian Jacobs is unlikely to play Super Rugby for the Stormers in 2012 after he snubbed an offer to train with them.

After his contract with the Sharks was not renewed, Jacobs briefly expressed an interest in joining the Stormers who are now in need of depth in the centres after Jaque Fourie signed a deal to stay in Japan and not return for Super Rugby to the Stormers.

The Stormers have also lost great upcoming centres, Johann Sadie and Tim Whitehead leaving, Jean de Villiers and Juan de Jongh as the only remaining experienced centres.

Stormers coach Allister Coetzee had indicated previously that he had invited Jacobs to join the Stormers training squad where he would be given an opportunity to trial for a Stormers berth and earn a new contract but Jacobs did not respond to the invitation.

Jacobs was therefore not included in the Stormers 53 strong pre-season training squad as detailed yesterday and he is unlikely to join the Stormers at a later date.

The Stomers have said that players may join or leave the squad before it is reduced to around 40 players in January before they leave for another training camp in Hermanus.

This of course might mean that Adi Jacobs is considering a move North, to France or the UK… or to Japan, but at this stage it is pure speculation.

Go make some big cash with one of the overseas clubs Adi.

Really hope he gets a offer from one of the clubs in the nh. At this stage of ones rugby life you want to make as much money as you can in the last 2 years of your rugby.

Adi is a real Rugby Journeyman…. has played all over the place.

    Let’s see, from quick memory…

He was schooled in the Cape
    He played for the Valke
    He played for the Bulls
    He played for the Sharks
He almost played for the Stormers
Now he’ll go play overseas somewhere

I know it’s pro era and all but it always seems those on the fringe who are just not good enough to become legends or regular Springboks, are the ones likely to move the most between provinces and countries.

Guys like the Brent Russels, Gaffie du Toit’s…

Good luck to him if he can get a job up north, make a bit of money before its too late. Would love to know why he didn’t take AC up on his offer, when Adi himself expressed an interest in the Stormers
