  Well done to Philander and man of the series. Deserved it for sure.

  Now said earlier we should have been playing a proper series with more tests. Not sure who worked this tour out but it sure is not great to only play 2 tests. Should have been 4 or 5 or at the very least 3 tests. Hope they consider that when we tour there.

  So we have Sri Lanka next then NZ. We then tour England and like I thought we tour Oz in October. Just hope it is not a 3 odi’s and 2 tests. 2 tests is just a waste of time really, make it a proper tour. 5 odi’s with 4 tests or the very least 3 tests.

  Now for the 7’s this Friday and Saturday with the Baa Baas game.

  Not a stellar series for Kallis either with the bat. Ashwell Prince seemed lazy, Jacques Rudolph also did not impress me.

  In the ODI’s & T20’s I’d like to see a guy like Rudolf van der Merwe with his passion, from fielding to bowling to batting, a real fighter… gives absolutely everything.

  I’d like to see quite a bit more of Philander, bowls excellent line and length and fights to the end.

  Tsotsie also not to be thrown away, he is one for the future.

  Need to find a Wicketkeeper to replace Boucher some time too…

  Could be we have not played a test in many, many months. Still no excuse but once we start to play more often we do get better. Well hope we do. Just feel we could have and probably should have beaten this Oz side. This is not the feared Aussie sides of past. They will get a whole lot better by the time we meet them again in October next year. Hope we a lot better too.

  580@ grootblousmile:Rudoplh is a whole lot better than he batted in this series. Think he will show his worth come the Sri-Lanka and NZ series.

  Philander was oustanding so too was Amla. Let us not forget Steyn took plenty wickets too.

  Our team has not played in many months, if this test was after the normal October test, normally we play one of the lower order teams or Sri-Lanka or go over to India for a short tour, we may have been better prepared for Oz coming here.

  Also we should not accept to only play 2 tests against one of our greatest rivals in cricket. Should be 4 or 5 tests or the very least 3 tests with a 5 odi’s. We have never played such a short series against each other that I can ever remember.

  I don’t particularly care whether this Test Series was in October or in the middle of Cricket off-season… if you know you are going to play a Series like this, you should be ready.

  That counts for cricket, Springbok Rugby, Super Rugby, Sevens Rugby… any sport and any aspect in life… you play and / or work to win and succeed… everything else is less than acceptable.

  I don’t like convenient excuses, I don’t like blaming referees, not being fit enough, not having the best coach, not having opportunities…. those are excuses for losers to use, not for me!

  That’s why I like what I heard last Wednesday at the Bulls… They said unequivocally, they do not want to be GOOD, they want to be GREAT, the greatest there is. They are CLEARLY not happy with the 2011 season and will not leave it there! The coaching staff promised Bulls conditioning like you’ve not seen before, in time for Super Rugby.

  Same applies at the Lions, their premier strenght now is their fittness and conditioning and dicipline and the fact that they have been meshed into a Team which will die for one-another and their coach.

  That is the cornerstone for success…. and the Proteas better learn it too!

  That is also why Peter de Villiers is a kak coach… he’s happy with mediocrity, with being somewhere in the pack. That’s why the Lions were so kak before! That’s why SARU is such a mediocre bunch of suckers!

  That is why jobless people complain they can’t find employment.

  That is why kids do badly in their exams…

  You can pull this principle through to everything in life!

  As jy sukkel, word jy ‘n sukkelaar…. so, moenie freegin sukkel nie!

  586@ grootblousmile:Well gbs, it was not a excuse but the truth. We have not played a test for many, many months. Why were we not prepared? I have no idea why we never organised a short tour for Zim to come over here or us here before Oz came over. The cricket calendar could be full have not a clue. But if we are going to play Oz whether it is in October or Dec we HAVE to have played at least 2 tests against a lower ranked team the month before. Can’t go into a series like this one with no game time. Much like rugby players need game time together.

  So yes I agree, we have to be prepared but we were not. Fact. No excuse that is the truth.

  For me playing Oz in a two test series and a three odi’s series seems like no thought went into it. Like they put Oz in our calendar cricket fixture just to fill up the year. Like a after thought. I hope it does not come down to this again, cause we used to have a superb schedule against each other. Home and away. 3 tests and 5 odi’s away and then the same on home soil. Actually we used to play them in 7 odi’s at one stage, now we have the 20/20 games thrown in and then it became 5 odi’s. The way I would like it to be but now that we wait a year to face them again hope we have more than 3 tests against them.

  For me this series was a joke really. Can’t play two of the best cricket nations in two tests and three odi’s. We need a proper tour to be organised in future.

Fark SA, Fark Steyn, we wont give him OUR records. It worked 2 ways Steyn tried to hard and AUS just kept him out and they knew we would panic. Philander was a BIG mistake, how could you undermine the confidence of the worlds best bowling pair???? Yes he took a wicket or 2 , and in real spectacular style, but the way they undermined the confidence of the Steyn/Morkell pair was absurd.

  Stey thrives on that new ball feeling.

  But there is a few guys that must retire, Rudulph , why bring him back, we had Alviro pieterson. Bouch must do the honorable thing and retire.
  Smith must resign as captain and concentrate on his own game.

  Kyk die LIONS het hul eerste 3 games net net verloor, maar hulle het tog gewys hulle is kompeterent en die tekens was daar dat hulle na iets beweeg. So sonder om my EIE span te “mistrust” kom uit en wys my jou MUIS. As ons goeie rugby speel terwyl ons die nuwe seisoen aanpak sal ek baie opgewonde raak want ons weet immers hoe om die “job” te voltooi.

  jammer ek hang aan geen afrigter se naam nie, niemand het jare se sukses om my sy dissipel te maak nie. Nie eens HM nie. Ek glo wel aan sy afrigtings beginsel en dan kyk ek of hy die nodige aanpassing kan maak.
  Elke jaar moet hy met iets nuuts voredag kom. So ek voel dat enige Coach wat die Geduld en stabiliteit in keuse kon bring ook die Leeus tot voordeel sou strek.

  Dit wat JM bereik het is GREAT maar kom ons sien maar wat 2012 se SR vir die Leeus gaan gee. Ek weet een ding daar gaan nie n span wees wat hulle gaan aflag as easy beats nie. Hoe hulle die nuwe druk gaan hanteer sal dalk my siening oor JM verander, dalk word ek ook een van sy dissipels.

  Die Lions het ‘n streng, gedisiplineerde coach nodig gehad wat nie nonsens vat nie, die ouens in hom en mekaar kon laat glo het, die spelers goed gekondisioneer en uiters fiks gemaak het…. in moeilike omstandighede

  John Mitchell het dit sover reggekry, nie dat ek voorspel die Lions is nou al eweskielik World Beaters nie of gaan Super Rugby vat nie… of dat Mitchell die Alpha & Omega is nie… hy het sy tekortkominge.

  Ek hou net nie van slapgat coaches nie, dis hoekom ek nie vir Snor & Muir kan hanteer nie en verkies om myself te skaar by mense soos Heyneke Meyer, John Mitchell, Graham Henry, Warren Gatland, Nick Mallett, Gert Smal en dies meer.

  Die pasgenoemde groep is mense wat besiellend is, planmatig optree, goed voorberei, kontinuiteit hou by hulle spankeuses, en bowenal met niks minder as wen tevrede is nie!

  Jy sê mens moet BOU, BOU, BOU met geduld… maar waaraan moet mens bou, bou, bou? Daar moet tog fondasies wees en pilare waarom mens moet bou, mens moet die fundamentele klimaat skep om so te bou dat daar die verwagte vooruitsigte is vir definitiewe sukses…

  Dit veronderstel meer as net aanhou bou en bou en bou met geduld, soos wat John Mitchell se voorgangers vir jare probeer doen het, sonder sukses!

  Nie waar nie?

  Wat die Bulls aanbetref, ons het sopas groot legendes en baie spelers verloor, so eweneens verwag ek nie dat die Bulls in 2012 Super Rugby gaan wen nie, maar ek verwag minstens dat Heyneke & Frans die spelers gaan kondisioneer (hulle gaan by the way nie weer George toe nie en sal in Pretoria kondisioneer hierdie jaar), bykans na perfeksie en die spankultuur weer gaan herbelyn na daai “ons gaan dood vir mekaar” beginsel…

  Die verskil tussen sleg verloor en goed wen in Super Rugby is bleddie klein, so ek verwag ‘n Up-and-Down seisoen vir die Bulls, maar ek moet sê ek is nogal opgewonde oor die toevoegings tot die Bulls, beide van Spelerkant sowel as van Afrigters, Kondisioneringsafrigters, en ander Bystandspersoneel.

  In elke posisie is daar diepte en die moontlikheid van Springbokaspirasies.

  Jy is 100% reg as jy sê “Talk is cheap” verwysende na wat op die Media dag gesê is, maar Heyneke het dit al voorheen reggekry om daai praatjies in realiteit te verander, en ek hoop en glo dat hy dit weer sal kan doen. Die ou het net iets in hom wat die mense om hom saamsnoer en motiveer….

  Ek het nou al die wonderlike geleentheid gehad om al die Suid-Afrikaanse afrigters en baie van die Oorseese afrigters (Super Rugby en Internasionaal) te ontmoet en te beoordeel vanuit my persoonlike waarneming van hulle, hoe hulle optree, hoe die mense om hulle reageer…. en die aanvoelling wat ek telkemale kry by die wat damn goed is, is nogal ongelooflik ooreenstemmend van aard, net soos die negatiewe aanvoelling wat mens telkemale kry met betrekking tot die wat maar gemiddeld en sleg is.

  Gaan ons Bulle die gelag van ander kan hanteer? Ons sal maar moet, as dit daarop neerkom!

  Gaan ons perfekte rugby sien van die Bulls in 2012? Nee, ons gaan nie!

  Is 90% van die Super Rugby spanne in dieselfde bootjie as die Bulls wat spelerverliese en skuiwe aanbetref? Ja, gewis, daar was verliese deur die New Zealandse spanne en die Austrliërs ook en spelers wat van Franchise na Franchise geskuiwe het en ‘n hoop wat nou in Frankryk, die UK en Japan speel.

  Sien ek uit na 2012? Ongelooflik so, ja!

  By the way, geluk met jou 30ste Huweliksherdenking… daar’s nie baie mense wat dit deesdae regkry nie.

  Jy se Heynecke is lus vir die seisoen? Wel as daar een ou is wat iets van rugby en sport sielkunde ken is dit hy. Frans dink ek is ook n sielkundige van beroep, so dalk kry hulle die regte mindset in die nuwe manne en veras die span ons en speel die rook uit die res. Maar as dinge tog verkeerd loop op die veld , dink ek die twee manne aan die stuur is die perfekte paar om die manne bymekaar te hou.

  So die Bou waarvan ek praat en geduld wat die ondersteuners aan die dag moet le is op hande, net die tyd sal leer.

  Herdenking was lekker Dankie en my Lief se sy sien kans vir nog 30.
