4 Pool matches, 4 wins… Bokke top the Pool of Death!

  • 272

268@ grootblousmile:agree, the way they played at the end, they deserved better

  • 273

Samoa exit…. their tournament is done

  • 274

Outta here, Enjoy your Friday boys, see you in the morning

  • 275

Bokke make me sweat and worry… a lot!

  • 276

Winning with kicks at goal again, as in previous WC wins, perhaps that why we need Morne. For the rest he is quite ineffective at #10.

  • 277

Don’t know what the reason is but Boks just never came out firing from the very start. Matfield said they went to sleep in the second half but in my opinion they never ever woke up. Was that gap between matches just too long’ Expected more from Beast. Seems like Bissy and Beast are better as impact players.

  • 278

Heers vir eers, thx for your company, see you all later.

  • 279

Where can we be critical on the Bokke performance…. well, there’s a lot to be critical about!

They broke the Springbok line a lot
Morné Steyn kicked quite a few too many up and unders
Bokke lost focus at crucial times
Bokke were roped into the off-the-ball scuffs

  • 280

Had me very worried. But good defence held out in the end. We kicked away too much possession, and it seemed as if Nigel Owens tried to blow us out of the match, especially Smits yellow card. Any thoughts?

    Summation:

So gaan ons nie die Titel behou nie!

  • 282

Relax boys, dit was do or die vir Samoa, of course sou hulle alles in gesit het, liewer nou een game voor australia n’ tawwe game he, die Ozzie voorspelers gaan ons ouens laat voel hulle speel teen n’ klomp softies, Oz se voorspelers kan nie so n’ tagtig minute performance insit nie.

  • 283

Well, the game is out of the way… the win was achieved.

  • 284

The next game in RWC is at 04:30 tomorrow morning, Australia vs Russia

  • 285

IMO the Boks really needed to start a free for all early in the game, get the niggling out of the way and show the dirty Islanders how to play Rugby.

We were dragged into FAR too much off the ball sh1t which really seemed to disrupt things.

Much for Div and co to think about, but hey, tomorrow is another day.

    GO ITALY!!!!

  • 286

If you give Samoa as much ball as we did, they will hurt you. We played into their hands, and our kick chase did not work

  • 287

I am just so farking disappointed with that performance. Guys, let’s be honest here. We said of the Wales match that the Welsh played out of their skins and the Boks were just rusty. We can’t keep on using the same excuse. This was Sanoa for fark sake. They should never have a sniff of victory against our first 15.

  • 288

They never had a sniff Turk, our execution let us down and cost us a number of tries, have we scored those every one would have been happy.

Rather look at what this games means to us looking forward.

The Bok management will castigate the players for poor decision making and for their execution on attack.

We overdid the damn scrum once we realised we could push them back, and giving away a penalty in attack when Spies rolled into the scrum when we were five meters out became predictable.

Twice on attack close to their line we conceded penalties.

Our defence will learn out of this game that even an effective umbrella defence can be too predictable.

Instead of going into the Wallaby QF with too much confidence we will now focus on the ares that need work.

    287 @ The_Young_Turk:
Personally I think Samoa was the side to have improved the most of all the minnows.

Wales only managed to win against Samoa by 17 / 10 or something against them as well.

What I’d like to concentrate on is the errors by the Bokke… missing first time tackles, specially in the second half.
Also, Bokke need cooler heads, stay out of the fights and play to their own pattern and strenghts, and that implies we need to hold onto ball and not just give possession away.

There’s a LOT to work on for the Bokke!

    @ biltongbek:
I know, i know look at he positives. But FFS man we should be past this stage of learning already. We should be improving every match and ironing out the kinks, not discovering a whole lot more!

  • 291

    @ grootblousmile:
How’s that other business of mine coming along?

  • 292

    291 @ Scrumdown:
Very well, hope to have it finished before I have to leave for Roftus.

  • 293

    @ grootblousmile:
That’s my point Gbs, there’s just too much to work on and no time left anymore.

  • 294

Well the only positive I can think of is that now the Boks will go into the QF against OZ as the overwhelming underdogs. No one will be expecting them to win and the Ozzies will already be planning their match against NZ.

  • 295

OK folks, let me work… I still have to go to Loftus too this afternoon… for you rugby hungry farkers!

  • 296

Boks always play better as underdogs or with their backs to the wall. I think we will come out firing for Oz and lose against NZ. No matter how much it guts me to say it, we’re just not good enough.

  • 297

    292@ grootblousmile:
Great. I’ll give you a call over the weekend to come and collect.

We have been the underdogs from the start nothing has changed.

  • 299

1st half we looked good, a bit over eager, but looking to get into our straps. We kept ball in hand better. Samoan defence was outstanding, limiting us to 13 points. Where SA made the mistake, they let the niggles get to them, and our kicks were not accurate. Morne Steyn missed too many touch finders and tactically, our kick chase was poor, giving them the ball to run at us. When Samoa kicked they kicked with purpose and direction.

Looks like you were all on the edge of your seats with this one, would have expected the Boks to do much better, but I guess a win is a win. Just had look at short highlights, lucky the guy who got red carded didn’t strike like that at Brussow with his fist, otherwise he may have been concussed and possibly missed out on next weeks game.
