Vanmiddag is die grote! WP vs N-Tvl!
What was pleasing was that the Bokke took their chances well.
I think there is no doubt Frans Steyn belongs in the inside center channel.
Danie Rossouw was excellent at No 5 lock, Bakkies was good for 40 minutes, Willem Alberts filled in well.
Gurthro needs to start at loosehead, was pretty darn good.
Morné Steyn atacked the line well and distributed well.
JP Pietersen looked hungry and sharp, Hougie is a star!
Only real let down for me was Ruan Pienaar!

Also feel that JF must get his dicipline right. Talks too much and hang on too long. But overall he played wel too.
Good Morning all.
Couldn’t bear to try and blog with the game on. Miss too much.
Very rounded performance. I thought the ref was very lax in his officiating, but it allowed for an open game.
Some good performances.
I thought that while on the field Houghie had a blinder. Poor Lambie got sold down the river by his mates a couple of times. FS had a solid game as did Jaques Fourie.
The question is, what to do about the lock problem?
Against the minnows it’s fine to use stand in’s, but against the big teams it’s a non-no.
Danie ‘Pakslae’ Rossouw gets the deserved Man Of The Match!
MOM is Danie Roussouw, great game Danie you are a star.
All in all a good team performance

Agree re Pienaar, when it was tight he was hesitant, but when it opened up he seemed a lot more fluent.
@ Scrumdown:
Schalk Burger can play lock well, imagine a on fire Danie and Schalk at lock and then all the talent we have in the loose forwards
Fourie du Preez had a bit of a mixed game as well… got better as the game progressed
I really enjoyed JPP play, he was playing like the great NZ wings, he can cover the back well.
I think I better go jump through a shower quickly!

I hear what you say, but MANY years ago whilst doing National Service a wily old coach taught me that you should never deliberately take a good loose forward and put him into a tight position.
It’s fine to let them slip into lock during a game when the situation (injuties etc) dictates, but not from the first whistle.
I think every Bok supporter with more than 5 brain cells knew that we would arrive at the WC very thin in the 2nd row department.
The next 2 games will allow us to get the old war horses back to a degree of fitness as I can’t see the forward battles against Samoa and Namibia being much bigger than today’s.
I think also that in today’s performance we could clearly see the influence of Rassie on the way the team played.
Burger worries me somewhat in the way that he goes into contact. It seems almost as if he’s hesitant to make head on contact.
Good game Bokke, games like this restore confidence, and right at a time when it is really needed. Yes Fiji didn’t put on their strongest performance, but the strong showing by the Boks didn’t allow them to. A very good build up going into the rest of the competitions. Can anyone tell me what M Steyn has been eating this week, at a couple of defensive tackles and runs, I had to look a second time! Well done Steyn. Great confidence builder.
Danie played many games at lock for the Bulls i have no problem with him starting there. Schalk maybe, but with lifting most loose forwards can become a lineout jumper. The scrum power yes there might be a problem, but i think we have a good unit and that helps a lot is someone new comes in.
PdeV patience and belief is doing the same as what JW,s belief meant to the Boks.
WELL DONE BOKKE WELL DONE BOKKE
What a pleasure to watch us play some top class rugby.
Well done to all the players every player had a superb game today. Expect Ruan. He was just not up to it. I had said this week right here that Ruan should not have made this squad. We should have had Mostert on this tour. We needed to take a extra lock.
Think Hougaard should cover Fourie at scrummie and not Ruan.
But really pleased that every player put their bodies on the line today and played superb. All of them. Only poor Ruan looked out of it.
