I think this is a good signing, he is certainly better than Brommer & Marnitz Boshoff.

It will be Lionel Cronje & Louis Fouche fighting it out to be Morné Steyn’s deputies next year and Lionel Cronje should certainly get more game time at the Bulls compared to at WeeePeee / Stormpoppies

It is interesting to get your opinion on this signing GBS. Have never seen Cronje play only read that he had loads of potential a few years ago and was wondering why he hasn’t delivered yet, or is that me being a bit harsh? So I note you rate him above Brummer and Boshoff so that’s good news for us, but there are some that think Boshoff has not had enough opportunity to establish himself.

Cronje had an operation, following an injury in Super Rugby, which has kept him out of the WP side the entire Currie Cup.

Brommer is severely limited and I saw that again on Saturday for the Blue Bulls…. wayward kicking to goal and a number of senseless kicks, right down the throats of WP. Luckily WP had Dollie at flyhalf, so the 2 shitty flyhalves cancelled one another out, effectively. Marnitz Boshoff is in Brommer’s class… will never go far, unless something dramatic happens. Brommer and Boshoff are average even compared to Vodacom Cup standards.

The injured Louis Fouche is a bright prospect, still a bit raw…. definately better than Brommer & Boshoff.

Morne Steyn needs a good deputy… and it will either be Fouche or Cronje.

To me it is not a great buy, sorry GBS but Brummer is far more reliable than any other youngsters. he came through our systems and i would have loved to see him with FduP, remember how other great Bulls Flyhalves came into the game, next to Tommie du Plessis, Robert du Preez, next to Joost , next to Fourie du Preez next to , next , to Now where did poor Brummer have more than 2 games with Franscios Hougaart and FduP?

We are buying badly , but that is MY oppimion, the youngsters we have will shine somewhere else like the guy playing at 10 for the Leopards, we have fallen into the same trough as WP. We cant see the talent we have right here in Pretoria.

If we bought Jantjies from the Lions i would have been excited

Brommer is one-dimentional and flawed, and could not shine even if you gave him a torch!

He’s been playing next to Jano Vermaak, quality scrummie, yet still manages to kick poorly to posts, failing to kick tactically astute or even out correctly when taking a penalty and could not breach a defensive line if the opposition backline was sitting down facing the other way, hog-tied!

Daai ou hoort waar die ander brommers hoort…. op ‘n drol!

Why do you think Pine Pienaar was so desperate to fast-track Louis Fouche… and ultimately why do you think Heyneke Meyer was so desperate to buy Lionel Cronje who has had a knee operation and is still recovering from it?

…. surely not because he thinks the world of Brommer, seems they both sum the situation up just like I do!

Mmmmmm makes one wonder, does’nt it…..

Same with Three-step Dustbin Jinka… I wonder why they contracted Jano Vermaak, I mean they have Hougie after all, when Fourie du Preez leaves for Japan….. and if Dustbin was so good, they would’nt need the depth of a Jano Vermaak, would they.
