Lions (16) 31 / Pumas (17) 27 (Final Score)
The MTN Golden Lions hosted the Ford Pumas at Coca-Cola Park, Johannesburg at 19:10 SA Time. This was the match thread for discussion of the game. The match was broadcast live on SuperSport 1 & SH2 on TV in SA.
The Lions squeeked a win, which they really did not deserve on the night against a very gutsy Pumas outfit

28@ Scrumdown:
No, that’s tomorrow’s jol… their shifts end late here… hehehe
29@ grootblousmile:
Laat dit vir jou ‘n les wees.
Back up weekly.
Hehehehe, look who’s talking. The day my external drive kaks is dit NAG for me!
30@ Scrumdown:
You think John Mitchell will be in a good mood later tonight at the presser?
31@ grootblousmile:
It’s sad we make jokes about it, but there is a lot of that type of stuff that happens.
32@ Scrumdown:
I do weekly backups… but this is a FULL BACKUP, in case something goes wrong, then we can just restore and lose very little time… couple of hours at most.
32@ Scrumdown:
I always say, my clients only learn to make proper Backups once they’ve lost large amounts of data and cried their hearts out.
33@ grootblousmile:
Flip, is he ever?
Maybe we should make a las and take HIM somewhere where the chicks take there kit off!
Is Jimmy Stonehouse coach of the Pumas? He’s not named in the program. I actually rate him as a coach. Always seems to do quite well with F all players.
With CC being cut to 6 teams next season you have to feel sorry for the Pumas and Leopards. WTF are they playing for? Chances of them staying up is very slim, and if they did manage to end in 6th or higher you can bet your last 50c that SARU will move the goalposts and wangle some other arrangement.
I see Unilever is now one of the Bok sponsors…. probably so that the can smell nicely (Shield for Sportsmen) whilst wanking with their grubby paws in the Vaseline pot… hehehe
37@ Scrumdown:
Yip, Jimmy Stonehouse is the coach…
He does indeed do well considering what he’s got available in player ranks
37@ Scrumdown:
I won’t go to places where the girls take their kit off…. hehehe
38@ grootblousmile:
Well that is Boksburg’s only ever contribution to Springbok Rugby!
40@ Scrumdown:
Jeeeeeewhizzz, they ALWAYS have the kakkest entertainment at the Coke-Tin… who organises it, Manie??
The 4 musketeers of Doornfontein are guarding the touchline.
kevin de Klerk, Manie Reyneke, Tony du Munnik and Andre Homan.
2 employees and 2 volunteers. I wonder who’s checking on who for the Good Corporate Governance scorecard?
43@ grootblousmile:
Dancing girls just took the field, and all I can say is that with what they’re wearing, they better keep moving or they’ll get VERY cold.
I think it was Manie’s Niggie.
Geez, the dancing girls trainer was obviously never in the military, their timing is as k@k as a platoon of recruits attempting to drill for the first time.
Boom toe vir hulle!
Stuart Berry is the ref tonight.
Excellent young ref who I think will go on to big things if he doesn’t swallow his whistle.
This Currie Cup season the Lions and Cheetahs should be right up there at the top, whilst WP, Bulls & Sharks have so many out in this farce without Bokke and aspirant Bokke.
Game on!
Game ON!
Good scrum from the Pumas, but ref’ adjudged illegal.
Penalty Lions. Francis for poles, 45m out, right in front.
Over 3/0 Lions
Burton Francis taking the 1st opportunity to goal
Over
Lions 3 / 0
Almost a try for Taute, last pass forward
Relieving Pumas penalty on their own line… offside
Looks like the Lions want to run the Pumas ragged.
Just hope it doesn’t backfire.
Penalty Pumas from the 5m scrum
ANother Pumas penalty… about halfway, after a very good maul & drive by them
Pumas lineout move looks more complicated that a Calculus exam question!
The Pumas somehow always have strong abrasive forwards
Ricardo Croy is a busy little #10.
Drop Goal by Croy
3 / 3
