Lions (16) 31 / Pumas (17) 27 (Final Score)
The MTN Golden Lions hosted the Ford Pumas at Coca-Cola Park, Johannesburg at 19:10 SA Time. This was the match thread for discussion of the game. The match was broadcast live on SuperSport 1 & SH2 on TV in SA.
The Lions squeeked a win, which they really did not deserve on the night against a very gutsy Pumas outfit

Lions running riot now!
Held up on the line
Hehehe, oh Webmonster, looks like we have as nearly many people on line on RT as there are at the game.
You’ll hear the echo’s ringing around from the cheers.
Try was awarded by TMO.
44/3 in the 59th minute.
12@ Scrumdown:
Hellooooooooo
I’m busy doing a FULL BACKUP of the R-T Database… it has become rather monsterous in size over the last 2 years
Lions youngsters really doing the basics right… another try, a scrum pushover
Lions u21 49 / 3 Valke u21
If they’d kicked better to posts it would have been close to 60 now
Lions u21 56 / 3 Valke u21
Try No 10 for the Lions
Lions u21 63 / 3 Valke u21
This result plus the results from Craven Week point to MASSIVE problems on the East Rand.
Structures are varked, finances are varked, and the future looks VERY bleak.
Turning into a cricket score
Lions u21 70 / 3 Valke u21
.. for the loss of no wickets…. hehehe
Final Score
Timeup, and with the kick it’s 70/3 to the Lions.
The Lions weren’t exactly precise in all of the executions, but the boys from the Panne were just not in it.
19@ Scrumdown:
It’s all those soft Kempton boys…. hehe
Wonder what all the Joburg Skollies are going to do against the Vuilbaarde from Mordor?
@ grootblousmile:
The Kempton Wolwe are sooooo K@K I’m not sure any of them would get a place!
I can see the Valke pushing for a change of the Rugby Provincial boundaries to match the State’s sporting boundaries.
According to local Govm’t, all sports clubs and schools in Ekhuruleni fall under Eastern Gauteng, so if they applied that rule to Rugby, the Valke would gain at least 4 clubs, including Alberton and Germiston Simmer, as well as the schools, like Marais Viljoen.
Of course, Mr Reyneke thinks it’s a load of B/S.
Manne from the Panne do not play rugby on Friday evenings… they’ve still got their overalls on after grafting hard at the Panelbeaters and Tune-up shops… hehehe
23@ grootblousmile:
Big win for the Lions tonight.
Sweet revenge for last season.
Pumas have lost a couple of half decent players, and don’t seem to have gained much.
Lions will win this type of game comfortably, but against the other “gig” sides, eish, anything can happen.
24@ Scrumdown:
It’s like the fight between WP and Boland… to rights Skelmbos & Maties should fall under Boland… not WP
25@ grootblousmile:
That’s strange, I thought they’d got the pay packet, blown half of the money at the local place where the chicks take their clothes off, and are now on the way to Carnival with the handbrake to dobbel the rest away in an attept to get petrol money for next week!
Farkit, the backup has run for about 80 min and is still only 39% complete
Vark it’s chilly here on the pavilion tonight!
Crowd “streaming in” now. At least 200 paying patrons on the stands.
