Lions (20) 30 / Sharks (9) 30 (Final Score)
The MTN Lions hosted the Sharks at Coca-Cola Park, Johannesburg at 16:05 SA Time. This was the match thread for discussion of the game. The match was broadcast live on SuperSport 1, SHD & M-Net on TV in SA.
In a humdinger of a match the MTN Lions and the Sharks drew 30 / 30 but it took a momentous effort for the Sharks to pull back a 21-point deficit and they managed to pull 14 of those points back whilst Butch james was off in the sin bin, yellow carded for a head high flying tackle on Keegan Daniel.

It really pisses me that the Lions wake up in the last 5 games of the season.
It’s absolutely the same BS year after year. (2010 an exception) Same in last year’s CC.
Put all of the fukcers on a small basic salary and a MASSIVE win bonus and see what happens.
Who was it that told me this week that James have had no effect on the Lions… ? GBS? 😉
A lions win, won’t change last weeks result, but it would be very entertaining to read the Shaaaaks supporters comments, after they were pretty smug after last weeks win! If we can call such a result a win?
Scrumdown, only read your response regarding your wild years now. So, what sort of stuff are you listening to now?
63@ Greenpoint-Gunner:
It’s the whole Lions side my dear confused friend, not Butchie alone.
The forwards are manning up, the Lions are tackling well, the Lions are keeping possession.
Oh, and the Sharks are diabollically shitty at present!
@ Greenpoint-Gunner:
Well I’ve been saying so, and I really thought that he wouldn’t be able to keep the Super Rugby pace with his knees and having played in Mud Island for a couple of years.
Wat drink ons?
65@ fender:
95% Classical through the day.
I had a music teacher in UK that must have had a deeper effect on me than I thought at the time.
Poor old geezer passed away recently.
68@ grootblousmile:
If I start now the “domestic bliss” of this morning will be minor compared to the sh1t I’ll cause tonight, but REALLY feel like a Captain or 20, but only 2 wheels under me today so….., umm, I’ll think about it.
Glad to see Butch still has the goods. Smit on the other hand should just do us all a favour and retire.
59@ grootblousmile:
That comes from watching the videos of the Lions games.
Monkey see, monkey do!
If the Sharks want to win this, Bissie would have to come on to give some grunt and ball-hunting ability up front.
Come on Sharks wake up. Far too little possession. Our loose trio far to light weight also.
Lions playing well. Butch is top class. Lions should have had him from the start of the season. Pleased Butch will be part of the world cup squad.
Go Sharks. Hope we can pick it up in the next half.
One would think the Sharks should be MUCH more motivated!
Did they underestimate the Lions and think they could just pitch up?
@ Cheetah4eva:
mense wat weet se my dat plonker se onttrekking vandag n direkte gevolg van laasweek is
2nd Half ON!
Penalty to the Lions, a shoulder charge by Botes, I think
Harsh penalty
@ Smallies Sê tog ablief ‘n groot boer van Bloem het hom geblik!
Penalty adavntage to the Lions, Sharks clearly offside
@ grootblousmile:75 – Doubt we thought we would pitch up and win gbs. Remember we without Alberts and Deysel. Our loosies are far too light weight I reckon without them.
Go Sharks, but this will be a huge up hill battle to pull this one back. Hope we can.
Lions 23 / 9
Damn, these Lions are fired up… gooooooooo you good things
Another Lions penalty, 7m out, Sharks offside… they pop it out, 5m out
Bissie on, John Smit off
Ja Scrumdown, the songs outlive us all…
Tryyyyyyyyyy??
TMO
Another try awarded…. I think to Baywatch again
Lions to win with a bonus point?
Bissie WILL make a difference though, but is it too little too late?
