An ankle injury will bring to an end Nathan Sharpe’s run of 53 consecutive games for the Western Force after club medical staff ruled him out for two weeks.

Sharpe landed awkwardly from a line-out in the opening half of the club’s match against the Reds in Perth at the weekend and was substituted in the 24th minute.

Scans revealed ligament damage to his right ankle which will require a fortnight on the sidelines.

Sharpe started his amazing consecutive streak for the Western Force in Round Two in 2008 and last weekend surpassed the club’s previous best mark of 52 games straight which was set by inaugural hooker Tai McIsaac.

The Western Force will be without Sharpe’s services on Friday when they travel to Melbourne to play their final match of the 2011 season against the Rebels.
