Stormers coach Allister Coetzee has said that Peter Grant will definitely play for the Stormers against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein this week.
The Stormers have missed Grant in the backline and his return will be a huge boost to the Stormers who suffered a third loss at home on the weekend.
Kurt Coleman has filled in for Grant but he is still a nervous player and missed penalty kicks that Grant would have almost certainly been succesful with.
Coleman was not too popular with the Newlands crowd on Saturday and was replaced by Dewaldt Duvenage which steadied the Stormers backline somewhat.
Coleman would actually have missed the match against the Cheetahs regardless of Grant’s fitness as he injured an ankle against the Bulls.
As Grant is likely to start the match against the Cheetahs the Stormers should also be able to start Duvenage at 9 instead of Januarie who had a shocker of a game against the Bulls.
The Stormers can go to the top of the Super Rugby standings if they beat the Cheetahs and the Reds lose to the Chiefs.
Captain Schalk Burger knows it won’t be easy against the Cheetahs, but is still optimistic going into the final week of the Super Rugby league phase.
“Next week is a local derby against a proud side who have been playing good rugby.
“We know what we have to do, we have won in Bloemfontein before and whilst we know it won’t be easy, we are capable of getting the result we need.”
“We would love to have won, but we didn’t so we move on,” he said on the Stormers site.
“Our destiny in this competition is in our own hands so now we must just ensure we are well prepared for another tough game on Saturday.”
Peter Grant will make a huge difference…. but is he now a match ready and as good as Dewaldt Duvenage at Flyhalf?
Was’nt Dewaldt Duvenage just simply freegin great Saterdag nie? Damn, hy het my grys hare gegee, hy het die Stormers se comeback lont aan die brand gesteek, en die vlam heeltyd naby gehou!
hahaha, GBS is skielik ‘n HUGE Dewies fan. Niks daarmee fout nie, jy is ‘n helse goeie speler.
