Springbok and Bulls scrumhalf Fourie du Preez could make a surprise early comeback for the Bulls clash with the Stormers at Newlands on Saturday.
Du Preez was injured three weeks ago when he had a grade 2 medial ligament tear but has returned to training and could make the match day 22 in Cape Town.
The Bok star’s knee has healed quicker than expected and he started running last week and Bulls doctor Org Strauss says that Du Preez may be considered for the starting line-up.
“He is looking good and the injury has responded well, but we will have to see how he fairs this week. He could be considered for selection this week though,” Dr Strauss said.
The Bulls are sweating on Bakkies and Gary Botha so the return of Du Preez would be a big boost for the Bulls as they need to win all of their remaining games to stay in contention for the play offs.
Zane Kirchner has a shoulder injury but should play on Saturday and winger Akona Ndungane, who pulled out of the clash against the Waratahs on with an ankle injury, is also expected to be fit for the match.
En hoor jy die magtige dreuning
oor die veld kom dit wyd gesweef
die lied van ‘n span se ontwaking
wat Stormers laat sidder en beef
Van Kaapland tot bo in die Noorde
rys dawerend luid die akkoorde
Gooooooooooooo Bulls!
Bliksem daai tjoppies affie Kaap!
@ grootblousmile:
Do you know if the DSTV Drifta plugs straight into a PC USB port? According to the DSTV Mobile website it’s as easy as:
Connecting to your PC
Minimum System Requirements
Operating System: Windows XP, Vista or 7 Processor: 32 Bit or 64 Bit Minimum Memory: 512MB Minimum Disk Space: 100 MB
USB Port
Installing the Application
Important: Do not connect the Drifta to the PC before installing the software. Insert the Drifta Application CD and run the Windows setup application. Complete the installation.
Using the Application
1. Connect the Drifta to the PC with a USB Cable.
2. Press the power button on the Drifta. Wait for the DVB-H light to go steady green – this may take up to 3 minutes when using the Drifta for the first time.
3. Launch the Drifta application on your PC.
4. The application will perform a channel scan and
start playing mobile TV.
5. Click on the schedule icon to display all available
channels and their schedules.
6. Double click on a channel in the listing to change
to that channel.
I really think such a little thing may be an absolute necessity for the RWC given the time difference between SA & NZ.
2@ Scrumdown:
Yip it does!!
Easy as pie
3@ grootblousmile:
Do you use one, and if so is it worthwhile?
4@ Scrumdown:
Don’t have one yet… simply have not had the time to go buy one.
Tripples, who is a blogger here too has one and says it works like magic, she uses it at the Office on Friday Mornings.
5@ grootblousmile:
Seems too good to be true. Maybe have to shoot down to DSTV shop at the Mall and see a demo for quality etc.
6@ Scrumdown:
Not difficult to imagine that it really works, these days one get’s dongle sized USB TV / FM Tuners that works bloody well (same size as a flash stick and I have one here amongst other tuners) but for those one needs to connect to an aerial source…
This drifta has the connection through cell protocols… which automatically routes a DSTV subscription at the same time.
It’s not rocket science, just make sure you try and watch from a good signal area, that’s all.
Check, here are just a FEW of the TV Card Options…. there’s more, much more!

7@ grootblousmile:
So I guess if the handbrake drags me to the Karroo I can forget about it?
8@ Scrumdown:
Unless you’re in a good cellphone area… yip!
Scrumdown, works like a bomb!!!!
I use it wit USB here at work, no probs, if you have wifi notebook it also works, just need to be in wifi area.
Worth every cent for me
I used the drifta while I was in hospital during the cricket world cup.
It is really simple to use and signal strength is the only requirement.
FDP needs the game time….but why rush him back? Hougie is fine.
12@ 4man:
For my part I thought that Houhie was better on Friday than FdP has been this season.
His service was crisp and accurate, and he didn’t waste time & energy gesticulating to the ref’ and his assistants and every spectator wearing blue at every other loose scrum for perceived infringements.
IMO PdP needs to get back to concentrating on the game, and leave the officiating to those appointed to do so. If he spent less time with his hands in the air screaming at the ref’s assistant he may be able to see and take a couple of those half gaps that made him such a good scrumhalf in years gone by.
