With the Superugby season getting into the business end of the season, every weekend you will have major deciding clashes. Everyone might differ which one is the most important and this article is written from a South African perspective.

This weekend’s action starts with one of the biggies, the Blues and the Stormers, on Friday, and ends with the Sharks versus the Bulls in Durban on Saturday evening.

In between, you have games where other South African teams can help our top 3 teams, rather than saving their own hopes. The Cheetahs will not take this statement happily but they fell back too far at the start of this season. I really wish them a 5th win in a row. The Lions can go ahead and restore the Lions pride and at the same time help the top 3 SA sides to pass the Waratahs.

The last game of the weekend will be more vital for the Bulls than the Sharks. If the Bulls manage to win this game, the next game against the Sharks in Pretoria could decide 5th or 6th spot available in the play-off’s. A lot can happen and it is even possible that the game against the Stormers and the Bulls become more important but we will deal with that scenario once it becomes reality.

The game between the Crusaders and the Chiefs has become more important because of two reasons, firstly the massive injury toll that the Crusaders suffered and secondly the fact that the Chiefs are getting into serious form. This game will be an acid test for the Crusaders.

Things might be a bit clearer after this weekend. There might be a few teams eliminated after this round, but this weekend and every other one that follows will decide the Champions fate.

    2 Big games indeed…

But there are some other games coming up to salivate about too… and which could really throw a spanner in the works on the Logs.

The Sharks vs Waratahs 28 May
    Bulls vs Cheetahs 28 May
    Reds vs Crusaders 29 May

    Bulls vs Waratahs 3 June
    Cheetahs vs Sharks 4 June

    Crusaders vs Blues 11 June
    Waratahs vs Highlanders 11 June
    Lions vs Sharks 11 June
    Stormers vs Bulls 11 June

    Blues vs Highlanders 17 June
    Bulls vs Sharks 18 June
    Cheetahs vs Stormers 18 June

What is pertinent to note is that the Bulls are involved in these, week after week… the most difficult run-in towards the play-off’s by far!
