    29@ grootblousmile:
    Canes will whip the force.
Landers by 20 min over the Lions.
Stormers by at least 14 over the Perde.
Sharks by 10+ over the Tahs.
Bulls by a 5-7 over the Cheetahs.
Reds – Crusaders too close to call. Could go either way, but I’ll go with home ground advantage but not by more than 5.

  • 32

I have already, but here they are again lol

    1. Canes vs Force: ‘ Canes have too much firepower in the backline. Force have been woeful! ‘Canes by 10+

    2. Highlanders vs Lions: Agrre with GBS! one logical winner. I pick the Landers but obviously hope the Lions pull of some pox win, as the Landers are semi-contenders.

    3. Brumbies vs Stormers: Stormers should walk this one against a very kak Brumbies side.

    4. Sharks vs Waratahs: Sharks should bounce back and beat the Tahs… From Cheetahs point of view bonus points are irrelevant.

    5. Bulls vs Cheetahs: Close game, Bulls must be favourites. But I am going with a Cheetahs victory by less than 5. Cheetahs have been playing very well as a unit, and they are having a season of “news” so why not add a 1st Bulls Superrugby scalp!

    6. Reds vs Crusaders: Think the ‘Saders will take a narrow win!

  • 33

    @ Scrumdown:

See that Carter and SBW are playing so think Saders may tak it…

    Oooo jaaa Halloooooo almal

  • 34

Well seeing that the Lions didn’t win last week, and the world never imploded on itself, maybe, just maybe the Lions will pull off a miraculous win.

If they do though, I’m sure none of us will wake up on Sunday, evidence that a week is a long time unless you’re an American Evangelistic Prophet of Doom, or maybe a Lions coach or supporter.

  • 35

    33@ Tripples:
Reds have shown this year that they’re capable of out thinking many “better” teams than themselves and coming away with the points.

Should be a good game, and along with the Cheetahs / Bulls are the 2 not to miss.

My problem is the 11h00 tee off at Silver Lakes on Sunday. Maybe it’ll be cold enough to cry off the “moer en soek”.

  • 36

    super @ 27
    lmao 😆

  • 37

    @ Scrumdown:
The Lions will be LUUUved by the Sharks and Bulls if they do a Lazarus act.

  • 38

    gbs @ 29
with you on all the predictions except for the force .. think they will beat the canes!

  • 39

I am going for an upset weekend.

Western Force will lead by halftime, the Hurricanes will get upset and win by 10

Hihglanders will have upset nerves and the Lions will squeek a win.

Stormers will play against the Brumbies and a very upset referee but will win by 8

    Waratahs to upset the Sharks

Cheetahs to upset the Bulls, who will fight back and complain afterwards a draw is like kissing your sister.

    Crusaders to upset the Reds.

  • 40

    37@ superBul:
Not really likely though is it!

  • 41

    @ grootblousmile:
GBS…they also took me on….the secret, stand back and take the long shots, you don’t need to get close, the weapons are surprisingly accurate….obviously dont go for 100m shots.

  • 42

    super @ 37
think every single one in sa will be cheering them on on saturday!! will give the sharks, bulls and cheetahs a massive boost if the lions can beat the highlanders on saturday
    ..
hope the reds can do us a favour too!!

  • 43

    biltong @ 39
    you sound upset!! 😀

  • 44

    #43
or is it just an upset stomach?

  • 45

    This weekend.
    1. Canes vs Force: Hurricanes will hand the Force a drubbing…over 10 points.
    2. Highlanders vs Lions: I’ve predicted Highlanders, but by a low score Lions are in that “weve got nothing to lose” mode.

    3. Brumbies vs Stormers: Stormers by circa 15, the Brumbies are at sea.
    4. Sharks vs Waratahs: Tough traditional rivals, Surfing, Surf lifesaving, rugby…but the Sharks will have too many guns on the day. 10 points

    5. Bulls vs Cheetahs: This is the game of the weekend, I pick the Bulls hoodoo side to take it by 1 point and Cheetahs to win away from home.
    6. Reds vs Crusaders: Crusaders wont let the burglar get into his rhythm and will win this by about 9 points.

  • 46

Little known fact….Eric Clapton lives 15 minutes away from me in a little village called Ripley, Patti Harrison (Georges widow) about 20 minutes away. The guys from Wishbone Ash live in the village next door and I have seen them play at the pub there on a Friday night…”The Fox and Hounds” have a band every Friday.

  • 47

    46@ 4man:
And I bet there’s a “Red Lion” within 10 minutes drive of your house!

  • 48

    41@ 4man:
We’re apparently playing “steal the other team’s flag”, so one has to move and get in a position to steal the opposition flag.

Best would be to keep one oke back, well hidden near your own flag with a clear field of fire on the own flag area, protector of the flag… and to move up with 3 okes… one left, one middle and one right. 2 Of us will have to be near their flag area simultaneously, one on the left flank and one on the right, putting their defender in the line of fire from 2 sides, with no place to hide from both. the 3rd attacker will then cover the 2 other oke’s backs when they pin the defender down and take him out… he then goes to grab the flag as the roles reverse and they become the ones who cover his way back.

Working the opposition flag back to your own lines is often the problem, so 2 guys would have to work interference and clear a path for the guy carrying the flag, a number of meters in front of the flag bearer, who hugs the one boundary, to give the opposing side less of an arc of fire and only a possible 180 degree attack angle in stead of a 360 degree attack angle (from all sides).

I know what the youngsters will do… they will charge blindly and uncoordinated up the battleground, shooting like hooligans… in an attempt to force the issue…. with no real strategic battleplan.

    48@ grootblousmile:
When I read the newspaper I always start at the back ’cause the sports pages are the most important. So I started doing that to your post and I thought you were describing the Lions defensive tactics of the last 14 rounds of SR.

  • 50

    49@ Scrumdown:
That’s the thing… it is exactly how the Lions operate!

  • 51

    50@ grootblousmile:
They don’t operate. They just exist.

My wife commented a couple of weeks ago “Hulle verdedigings patrone is so deurmekaar soos ‘n poep in ‘n borrelbad.”

Wonder if Manie, Kevin and John M would agree? Especially as it came from a woman!

  • 52

    gbs @ 48
    sounds great ..
    but
after all the alcohol abuse … can you or any of your team members still shoot straight?? 😀

  • 53

    #52

  • 54

Hey guys, Cheers for a while.

Got to go watch my daughter play her last Netball game of the season, and it’s flippin cold outside.

Hmm, maybe some OBS to help?

    Later.

  • 55

    52@ Ashley:
It will be like skydiving… you’re sober till after the work is done!

Anyway, we don’t abuse alcohol, we use it wisely… hehehe…. whilst enjoying the company and the braai.
