Damn, double damn!
Bulls fly half Morne Steyn has been linked to a move to English Premiership Club Bath for next season as a replacement for Butch James.
James left Bath two weeks ago after revealing that he wanted to have a final shot at the world cup with the Springboks.
James played 9 minutes for the Lions on Saturday and has been named to start this weekend against the Waratahs.
Bath have been looking for an international calibre fly half since James announced his departure but the club have yet to sign a stand out international replacement.
All Black pivots Dan Carter and Stephen Donald have both been linked to the Premiership club but there is plenty of competition from France for Carter’s signature and Donald is not necessarily seen as a star on the international stage.
There are however unconfirmed reports surfacing today that Bulls and Springbok fly half Morne Steyn has agreed to join the club but has yet to sign a formal agreement.
It is however understood that Steyn has a contract with the Bulls until 2013 but they may have agreed to release him.
A formal announcement can be expected shortly after the contracts have been signed.
Flok, I hope this is overzealous gossip-mongering!

Both Steyn and the Blue Bulls Company confirmed to SuperSport.com that there is “absolutely no truth” in reports from the United Kingdom that Steyn had agreed to move to Bath as Butch James’s replacement after the World Cup.
Stories in the English press on Tuesday linked Steyn with the English club, saying he had secretly agreed a deal and was set to put pen to paper soon.
The Blue Bulls Company however, denied anything of the sort, and indicated they would reject any offer made for Steyn to be released early from his contract.
“Morné has been contracted by the Blue Bulls until the end of 2013 and there is no way we would agree to any release before that date,” Blue Bulls High Performance Manager Ian Schwartz told SuperSport.com.
“Morné is a priority player for both the Blue Bulls and for the Springboks and is seen as part of our future here at Loftus Versfeld. We have also received no request to negotiate with him and if we did, we would not entertain any such request.”
Steyn confirmed as well that he had “spoken to nobody, nor received any offers”
“I’m happy at the Bulls, and am not looking elsewhere,” he told SuperSport.com
He then posted on Twitter to confirm the fact as well.
“Hear things that I am going to Bath. Want to let people know that I have spoken to nobody, I am still at the Bulls until 2013! God Bless…” Steyn tweeted.
Bath have been searching for a replacement for James, with former Bok Derick Hougaard and All Black Dan Carter already being linked to the club.
@ sharky_forever:
Thanks for putting that one to bed Sharky, its interesting sometime how these rumours start and spread, just last week we were speculating on the possibility of Ruan Pienaar joining the Bulls, and since then I have read of him being linked to the Stormers. I still wouldn’t mind if Ruan turned up for duty at Loftus.
