Western Province senior professional coach Rassie Erasmus will be part of the Springboks management team at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand later this year.
Outgoing WP Rugby chairperson Pat Kuhn confirmed to the Cape Times that the former Springbok will be one of the Springbok assistant coaches.
Kuhn added that Erasmus would return to his role with Western Province in 2012.
Springbok coach Peter de Villiers was expected to confirm Erasmus’s appointment when he named a 51-strong provisional Rugby World Cup preparation squad in Wellington on Wednesday.
“Letting Rassie join the Bok management is something that was asked of us, so we are doing it for the country,” Kuhn who is now part of SARU’s executive council told the Cape Times.
To be fair, is Coetzee not doing the coaching, and Rassie the management? Why not just make him manager then?
Not sure I like the fact that Rassie will be involved… now if it had been Heyneke Meyer on the other hand….
But give Disco DJ Rassie a chance, he might just have a few tunes to play us….
This is good news GBS. A step in the right direction.
