I would like to take this opportunity to thank GBS for flying me to New Zealand to cover the RWC 2011. I never expected him, and this site, to cover all my expenses as well. I hope that the content that I send back will be of great value here.

Hi All. Sorry that I have been a bit quiet lately, my life has been chaos, I have moved, work has been busy and I swam the Midmar mile over this last weekend so was training for that which took up a lot of time.

To answer your question above, the content on the website is great, there are always new articles, if there are any trolls they are deleted and any stupid comments are also deleted. Yourself and GBS are always available to listen to new ideas and one thing that I really enjoy about this site is that cricket is also given attention which I really enjoy. Furthermore, discussions are almost never turned into a political mess which a pleasant change from what you usually read on other rugby sites.

The inherent problem on this site though is that there are just not enough bloggers who are on to make comments (Like on Keo and other sites) and hence it is sometimes difficult to make conversation when sometimes it feels like you are talking to yourself if the main bloggers are not around, so I think what we all need to do is try and get new bloggers to join in order to keep the conversations going and get the hits up on the website.

#4 I am in full agreement W!!!! I think it is up to us to get this site out there and to promote it…..I have forwarded it to all my email rugby friends and also to all the people playing in my superbru pools this morning!!!

  • 6

Once the rugby starts there will be more bloggers.

We must get them somewhere, there is far too many rugby blogs.

Dit gaan ’n week of wat neem voor ek weer op my snykant gaan wees en ek moet al my energie daaraan spandeer. Intussen moet ek vure doodslaan oor goed wat ek glad nie gesê het nie,” het Du Preez afgesluit.

    Friends,

It’s true, it’s up to YOU and all of us to promote this site.

I will keep the platform stable, co-ordinate all news and Articles, the Authors here will help me with content… I will weed out the troublemakers… and generally provide our Rugby Community here, with the able help of SuperBees.

So, viral marketing by all of you, to mail everybody on your mailing lists, is a very good way to start.

We have to remember though that all the other sites have a few selected bloggers as well who do most of the talking and from figures I have access to here it appears we are read far and wide… and getting busier by the day again as rugby season approaches.

So, goooooooi mieliessss and get rugby supporters to join here….. it’s up to all of us!

    4@ Winston:
Winnie, so you swam the Midmar Mile…. hectic!

Thanks for your response on what R-T can do to improve, we’re a big family here… so spread the word bro!

I’m a daily reader of the site and occasional poster (very occasional lol). I enjoy the spirit of the comments section more than Keo (on which I’m more active) but I do find that the traffic is a bit quiet.

No-one’s fault, I just enjoy a good debate and exchange of views, and often find that it’s like shouting in the dark. I’ll continue to read the articles and comment where I have something to say however!

Gooo Stormers! (please don’t kick me off for that comment 😉

  • 13

    12@ Stormersboy:
Seeing as you are a daily reader and occasional poster… mail your rugby tjommies…. stimulate debate here by commenting more, banter some…. and within a week we’ll be steaming on the comments here.

Debating has to start somewhere… so do your thing, talk the hind leg off a donkey… even Stormers supporters are somewhat welcome here…. hehehe

PS! About the Stormers comment, consider this a final warning….. hahaha (you know I’m joking, right? Such sensitive souls, these Stormpoppie supporters)

  • 14

haha we’ve learned to become a bit thick skinned over the years.. (this year will be the year, ok maybe next year, ok maybe the next….)

The problem is that most of the okes I chat to off the site already are on here, but ja, I’ll spread the word where I can!

Besides you blou okes need a contrary opinion on this site. Too much Jacaranda love going around. 🙂

  • 15

    14@ Stormersboy:
Come on, say it just once….. say Goooooooooo Bullssssssss!!

Remember, it takes intelligent okes to run a web site, that’s why a Bull had to take the Bull by the horns, so to speak and not a Stormpoppie…. hehehe

Come on, say it…. Goooooooooo Bullsssssssss!

  • 16

Never! I feel a braveheart moment coming on! Freeedoooom!

yes, that Keo fella is also a Bulls supporter isn’t he?

PS I do like the bulls as a team, no problem with that, they’re a great team. Most SA teams in fact. Will always support an SA team against an foreign team (and by foreign I don’t mean anyone south of the Jukskei 🙂 ) Sharks and Bulls are very good. I made a comment on Keo a few years ago, after the 2009 S14 win that I think that team is the best provincial team I’ve ever seen. Bar none. Including the great ’80s WP team!

But Province is in my blood. That’s just the way it always will be. For better (hopefully) or worse (probably this year).

  • 17

    16@ Stormersboy:
    Bwahhaha

Yip, don’t you guys just love to hate the Bulls…. out of pure envy…. hehehe

Personally the new format somewhat suits the Chetahs who just love local derbies..

Like Tripples, I think the SA teams are more evenly spread this season and I think we should prepare for some local surprises…. just hope the Bulls don’t cop a surprise from the Lions early on this weekend.

  • 18

I was at the Tri Africa series games and the Lions were a nice surprise. They’ve filled in some player gaps, you are right in that they’ll be up for it this year, esp. at home.

Whether they can translate into results remains to be seen. Personally I’m not so sure, one or two upsets. I just hope that they can take points off the overseas touring teams. Usually the Lions and Cheetahs roll over and play dead there…

    17@ grootblousmile:
It’s a distinct possibility, but anything can happen.

Naas always said that you don’t win a competition in the first month, but I reckon you can definitely loose it.

Lions are still a “work in progress”, and they’ll tell you that “Rome wasn’t built in a day” but it did burn down in one day, while the Emperor fiddled.

OK so the Lions have been rebuilding for 10 years. What’s a decade in a 122 year history?

  • 20

    @ grootblousmile:

Hi GBS, yeah, I did it, took me 47 mins so barely made the cut-off time, it nearly killed me but I am so glad I finally finished it and got the monkey off my back because I tried it once before and didnt finish.

No worries, if our opinion as bloggers is asked and I have a gap I will try and give constructive feedback, I will try get the word out.

  • 21

    20@ Winston:
Well done man…. after my vreet-holiday I might have a bit of a battle floating…. hehehe

  • 22

    @ grootblousmile:
We shall call you “bob” 🙂

  • 23

    22@ Stormersboy:
Maybe, Sinker would be more apt…

Flok, and last night I overendulged with the food again!

Came home from a nice Valentine’s dinner…. and had to open a Bottle of Muscat to get the food to settle a bit…. nice excuse hehehehe

  • 24

@ grootblousmile: For medicinal purposes of course!

I just slipped my wife a roofie like I do each year. It’s a win-win really. She gets a good night’s sleep and me, well..

  • 25

What Rugby-Talk plans to do…..promise to support the Wallabies!

To be crowned world champions in 2011!

  • 26

    24@ Stormersboy:
    Eishhhh, you’re a real Skebberesh!

You Stormpoppie okes… a roofie must surely be the only way you guys manage to get laid!

  • 27

#25 one thing one can say for you Walla….you are a brave (or maybe stupid) man 🙂

  • 28

    25@ Wallabie.:
    Come on Walla… we’re not that desperate…

How’s it hanging you old geyser?

  • 29

  • 30

    @ grootblousmile:

Swimming was definitely not my calling in life 🙂
