Supersport Preview
A consistent South Africa will have a clear edge over the unpredictable West Indies in Thursday’s Group B match at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.
One of the best teams never to have won a World Cup, South Africa’s aspirations could be gauged from the fact that they have packed three frontline spinners of different styles for the World Cup in the region where the tweakers thrive most.
At the same time, they have contemporary cricket’s deadliest pace pair in Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel, one who thrives on pace while the other prefers bounce to torment the batsmen.
“There is always a place for genuine pace. I don’t think anybody likes to face people who bowl at 155 kph. If someone tells you they enjoy it, they are lying to you,” skipper Graeme Smith said.
They have a formidable line-up with Jacques Kallis and Hashim Amla as the batting mainstays.
In contrast, twice champions West Indies lack the depth or variety of their opponents but in Chris Gayle, they have a player who can turn a game on its head on his day.

Damn, ALL the 2’s…
Laat my skuldig voel…. hehehe
Kallis first over back in ODI goes for 10
Proteas now pulling the run-rate back well… would be good if we take another wicket though
End of over 10 (2 runs) West Indies 44/1 (RR: 4.40)
@ grootblousmile:
one wicket every 8 overs will keep them round about 200
Need to take Bravo. Maybe after the powerplay is over bring on the spinners.
We need to bowl line and lenght to these Windies… cramp them for space… frustrate them.
They like short bowling… they like to hook and cut
Damn 😡 Bravo smashes Morkel for a 4. Have to bring on the spinners after this pp.
Die komentator het nie lately na Morkell se figures gekyk nie, bleddie arse . Morkell is very economical plus dangerous
So far today 13 runs of 4 overs by Morkell in power play is good, very good
Did i put the mockers on him now?
Bravo goes to 50…
We need to take or inhibit the farker!
Eishhhh… Big 6 for Bravo
Robbie now you better show why you are in and not Lonwabo Tsotsobe

This is a new feeling, watching all this spin by SA
we need serious wickets , NOW
we are bowling kak
@ sharky_forever:81 – No not too bad, just that Bravo is batting well.
Spinners have slowed them down a bit. Brought the run rate down slightly. From 5.10 to 4.95.
Howzit brudda. Your feeling for our game on Saturday? Jeez I am nervous for our team against the Blues.
Is the pitches not to easy?
@ superBul:80 – We need to take Bravo.

Hiyas brudda, yeah they batting well , but at the same time we not blowling smart
yeah cant wait for the rugga , but i think we will be fine
remember the blues just managed a come back and that was in kiwi on their home turf
big diffs traveling
@ superBul:85 – And I miss it here at the pc.
HEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAA Bravo out. Well done Botha. Now think we can breath a bit.
@ Puma:
where the hell have you been, the moment you come on to bowl(commentate) we take him. 😆
@ sharky_forever:86 – Think it tough out there for the bowlers. But spinners slowed them down a bit.
Yes agree Blues had to travel so that will be a slight advantage to us. Also the last time they have beat us was in 2005. BUT that means nothing. Think the humidity will play a roll for both teams. Don’t think there will be a great game, more just to win it. Which I hope we do. Need to travel with two wins on home turf. Confidence will be up. Also to get away from the humidity will be good. Then this time of year in Perth is HOT but not much humidity for our game there.
Imran Tahir to Smith, OUT
