Supersport Preview
A consistent South Africa will have a clear edge over the unpredictable West Indies in Thursday’s Group B match at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.
One of the best teams never to have won a World Cup, South Africa’s aspirations could be gauged from the fact that they have packed three frontline spinners of different styles for the World Cup in the region where the tweakers thrive most.
At the same time, they have contemporary cricket’s deadliest pace pair in Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel, one who thrives on pace while the other prefers bounce to torment the batsmen.
“There is always a place for genuine pace. I don’t think anybody likes to face people who bowl at 155 kph. If someone tells you they enjoy it, they are lying to you,” skipper Graeme Smith said.
They have a formidable line-up with Jacques Kallis and Hashim Amla as the batting mainstays.
In contrast, twice champions West Indies lack the depth or variety of their opponents but in Chris Gayle, they have a player who can turn a game on its head on his day.
@ Puma:
it also affected AB’s batting lately, sad indeed.
Hassim Amla have a incredible average of 73+ this last year.
@ Blue Bird:28 – Yes I was… BUT remember it was almost like saffa against saffa there…..hehe.
England have 4 saffas in their side, so do the Dutch. The batsman, Goetschate that got 119 is South African from Cape Town.
Our talent is everywhere Carol…hehehe.
@ Blue Bird:
BB how nice to be on when you are here too. We are almost strangers now, it havent happened for a long time. Lets hope this is a good game
@ Blue Bird:30 – 😆 It sure did .. hehehe
Anthem buggerup
Have you seen the new Keo layout?
It is so hard to read, I used to speed read through the comments, now I can’t be bothered as it is really hard work, somehow the type face is all jumbled up and you can’t easily see who the poster is and who they are replying to.
RT is much easier on the eye…….Is it my age??
@ superBul:31 – Super, I knew that would happen. It is bound to if you keep. Keeping is tough, knees and back take plenty strain. WE also miss AB in the field huge. Should have the Freestate keeper there. He can bat some as well.
Hellooooooooooo
Yip, did a bit of serious tweaking on R-T.
We’re now running of the latest WordPress V 3.1, had to re-write one Plugin which was causing all sorts of kakkas… removed some adverts and combine some Team Icons on the lower left hand Sidebar…
Have to keep this place moving in the right direction.
So, the Ama-Blomme-Blomme will bowl first and chase the target set by the Windies…
I like that, generally.
@ Puma:
It is actually rather embarrasing how may ‘outsiders’ are English…oh well, if they qualify and play with commitment they are welcome.
Just funny when they are interviewed after the match and have such strong Saffa accents.
Wow Botha to start
Gayle outttttttttttt!!
And it worked Gayle gone
@ Blue Bird:36 – Not just your age Carol. I feel the same. Sometimes too much is not good. The recent comments there too should be lower down, otherwise you miss a poster. Then again in the recent comments should read poster and thread first instead of last. Kinda not user friendly so to speak. Keep it simple and it works very well. RT has the best layout out of any blog anywhere. Easy and you can see who is online and recent comments and connect with the blogger easy.
Also on keo the posts are all to one side, so not good that. For my pc it is. Not sure why. Also very sensitive just try and log on to a thread and you end up with the Bok or other thread. Might be my pc. I still enjoy bloggers there. But also plenty on sw these days.
@ superBul:
Hi superBul, I can’t see the game at this end, but nice to drop by and say ‘Hi’ to my old friends.
I really like the superBru insert on the righthand side, only my dismal performance in week one has reduced me to a seriously poor placing. Do you notice who is in pole position!! Grrrr I am to beat him again this season!! 🙂
Botha to Gayle, OUT, ‘the Botha move has worked wonders, dangerman Gayle is gone, a length delivery pitching outside off, turns away from Gayle who looks to play on the leg side, but only manages to edge it to first slip, what a start for South Africa
Sorry a Puma typo there ….AIM to beat him !!
@ Blue Bird:40 – mentioned your name there. Sorry. Super can change it to Blue Bird. Brain not with it this morning…….hahahaha. Probably been away here too long…lol.
@ superBul:46 – HEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAA
Dangerman out. Gayle gone. Nice start.
Ignoring me??
Grrrrrr
@ grootblousmile:
Have you popped by to learn a bit more about cricket as I know it is not your ‘specialist subject’ ??? Hehehheheh
Actually I need some pointers for my superBru!!! So I had better be nice to you 😉
Not so good over by Dale Steyn
Over 2 (11 runs)
Lovely to catch up, enjoy the cricket…..see you Puma, GBS and Superbul.
Till later
@ Blue Bird:40 – Yip and Trot has not lost a ounce of his saffa accent, nor Doeschate.
54@ Blue Bird:
Cheers
@ Blue Bird:54 – Cheers BB, Hope you ready for the Argus and good luck. You gonna enjoy it for sure.
Maiden over by Steyn Good comeback
@ Blue Bird:
See later
The Windies always play with such batting flair… it either works well or they tumble like a card house
