Reports from French Newspapers has suggested that Bakkies Botha signed a 3-year deal with French Club Toulon.
The Midi Olympique newspaper reported that the Bulls and Springbok lock will join the French club on a 3-year deal following the conclusion of the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand later this year.
Botha who has also been rumoured to be in talks with the Lions and their multi-millionaire investor, Robert Gumede, has seemingly decided on the French club for an amount said to be close to 700 000 Euro’s per year for the 3 years.
Midi Olympique suggested that the signing will be made official by Toulon Club president, Boudjellal within the next 12 hours.
Toulon who has also recently signed Australian star, Matt Giteau, also has international stars like Joe van Niekerk (captain), Carl Hayman and George Smith on their books.
as dit so is,net dit gaan jou geweldig bakkies groot bok en n legende, verdien beslis sy jackpot
ek dink daar is n hele paar bokke wat gaan waai na die world cup.
It was expected….
But the Bulls still have Flip to fill that void.
We expect Danie Rossouw to also go…. and Matfield to retire, of course.
Locks will have to be Flip (No 4) and Juandre Kruger (No 5)…. not too shabby anyway, but it will be damn difficult to replace Matfield and Bakkies because they’re the best locking combo in World Rugby.
However, in breaking news, regular contributor to Sport24, Jean Smyth, has had it confirmed from both Toulon and Bakkies Botha, that there is NO truth at all to the reports that Bakkies has signed for Toulon.
The mystery deepens …
Good news! Moon boot is finally off! So glad bout that! Will be playing soon! Can’t wait
