Aplon to miss Super Rugby openers

The Stormers have revealed that winger Gio Aplon will miss the next three weeks of rugby due to injury.

Aplon has a small tear to the lateral cartilage in his right knee which the Stormers have described as “not too serious”.

The Stormers medical team say that Aplon should be fit to play again in around three weeks as he should make a speedy recovery.

The Stormers have a bye in Round one of the new Super rugby tournament so Aplon will not be missed next week.

All the teams seem to have a few minor niggles but a few teams seem to be really struggling with the early injuries, like the Highlanders.

Stormers missing Anton van Zyl & Aplon… and will Jaque be ready?
Bulls might miss Kirchner and Hougie for a week or 2… and Jaco Pretoors’s back problems are still a worry.
Sharks will be missing Hargreaves and possibly Deysel.. and who else?
Lions seem to be OK’ish, but possibly without Andre Yo-yo Pretorius for a while… who else?
Cheetahs seem to have most of their players available
