Sorry…. been looking at the hunting photo’s a bit.
Friday afternoon went hunting, till early evening.
Both me and BonzaiGBS shot a blesbok each… one shot for me, one shot for him, was all that was needed.
Then we went back to the farmer’s “dorpshuis” (house in the little town of Morgenzon), where we took the guts and insides of the blesbokke out, cut off the heads and cut all 4 legs off at the knee knuckles. We hung the 2 blesbokke carcasses in a cool place and had a late evening braai… and a few chioce toots.
Saturday morning we were up just after sparrowfart, took the 2 carcasses to the local Agricultural School, where they have a fully equipped abatoir. There we took the skins off the blesbokke and placed the 2 carcasses in the cold room. We also assisted a bit with the horses there where the one mare was taken to the one stallion…. for the dirty deed… damn, glad I’m not a stallion… things are over in under a minute…. flokkie toggie!
Then we went out to my farmer friend’s other farm, about 10km from Morgenzon, where they keep some of their horse stud stock.
We took enough saddles, saddle blankets, bits and horse stuff with, as well as enough liquid refreshments.
We went on a long lovely outride, then herded some of their young foals back to the stockpens.
Then it was time for some liquids… hehehe.. and a bit to eat.
Early afternoon we went riding some more… all the way down to a proper quarry dam they have on the farm… most of the clothes came off and we swam and played with the horses in the water.
Damn, the little farmer kids who went with had a ball and just do not know how fortunate they are to be doing that on a regular basis….
We went back to the dorpshuis at about 16:00, ate some ostridge potjie that myself and the farmer’s wife had “built” that morning and left on the slow cooker (ostridge neck pieces browned or fried in extra virgin olive oil with some chopped onion stukkies.. then thrown into the big slow-cooker, then we added half a bottle of Red Jerepico, potato wedges, corsely chopped carrot pieces… and lastly mushrooms… oh yes and of course with about 250 ml of fresh cream added in… some ground black pepper, a bit of fresh garlic and some braai spice).
The people nearly ate their fingers as well, the sauce was so good!
We went to go get the 2 blesbok carcasses and left Morgenzon at about 18:00 last night.
How do they say… all good things come to an end!
Both BonzaiGBS and myself are a bit sunburnt, specially in the face and neck areas… but what the hell…
Oh, by the way, managed to get some SALPETRE (Potassium Nitrate B P) which is an important ingrediant in my biltong recipy… we can’t get that here in the city areas anymore, it is prohibited due to the fact that the nitrates are used in the process of making home made bombs accross the world.

Steyn to Dhoni, OUT, 144.9 kph, Dhoni falls! Steyn is the man for South Africa, breaks the partnership that had almost wiped off the huge deficit, it climbed nastily from short of a good length, nipped in too, Dhoni was caught in an awkward position, and fended it to Boucher, who took a neat catch, diving to his right, Dhoni goes for 90, Steyn roars
MS Dhoni c †Boucher b Steyn 90 (178m 106b 14×4 0x6) SR: 84.90

Harris to Harbhajan Singh, OUT, Harris gets Harbhajan! it was tossed up outside the off stump, he went for the drive, and got an outside edge that went straight to slip, South Africa are closing in now

4.50 pm Bad light stopped play It has gone very dark now. Lightning in the distance, the covers are coming on
It rained here, the rain coming down sideways and in bucket loads, a hell of a wind blowing towards Pretoria from this side.
We had some hail too, bloody serious stones, some of them.
But the rain here was hard and harsh… if it rains anything remotely like that in Centurion, prepare to only continue tomorrow.
Ah, I see the covers are on and it’s very dark outside… storm coming their way now in Centurion…

at least this rain makes many Indians pray, read some of the comments …
Ankan: “Wish the match was in the subcontinent where poor drainage would have ensured no play even tomorrow” Keep on dreaming
Sundar with this gem: “I fail to understand why BCCI cannot organise rain for the whole of tomorrow.”
Double A is a potential believer: “i was an atheist till it rained all day in Centurion on 20th Dec 2010…..plz God plz…”
Firdose Moonda, our South Africa correspondent, from Centurion: “rain is glistening on the lights, coming down in sheets.”
SA Open won by Ernie but look at South Africa’s top golfers all up there to honor the 100th SA Open

Ernie Els held off the challenge of Retief Goosen to capture the South African Open Championship for the fifth time in his career on a fascinating final day in Durban.
Amid all the furore surrounding Sachin Tendulkar’s 50th Test century, there were two moments of magic from South Africa’s bowlers that meant their team was on the brink of victory at the end of the fourth day in Centurion: the extra bounce and slight away movement from Morne Morkel that got a faint edge off Rahul Dravid’s bat and the bullet of a ball that MS Dhoni tried to fend off Dale Steyn. Those were the two defining moments of South Africa’s performance in the field on Sunday.
Hope the weather in Pretoria is fine today. We need to wrap this one up early.
Go Proteas.
The weather is a bit dodgy…. could still expect rain later…. maybe
If we could just get 1 wicket early today… then it’s a matter of time only.
Wicket has apparently flattened out considerably.
Glad we got the early breakthrough, just one more wicket to go boys.
Ahhhhhh, Sreesanth is gone!!
1 Wicket away from a win…
Game OVERRRRRRRRRRR
Proteas win by an innings and 25 runs!!
Tendulkar left standing, not out… just ran out of partners….
Its so nice seeing us abusing the Indian batters with short balls. Good stuff 🙂
449@ Winston:
Hello Winnie.
Seems that the Indians were 2 bowlers short (out with injury), which made this possible for us.
