South Africa reasserted their control on the opening Test in Dubai with Johan Botha and Morne Morkel combining to run through Pakistan and earn their team a significant advantage which had been extended to 271 by the close. Botha took three wickets during the morning session in a teasing spell, then after lunch Morkel wrapped up the innings with the second new ball to finish with for 5 for 54 and leave South Africa well placed to push for victory
Highlights Day 2
Pakistan’s session. Despite being a bowler short, they have evened out this contest at the end of the morning session on the second day. Gul kicked things off with three wickets, including that of AB with a lovely delivery that jagged in, and the spinners then stepped up. Just 54 runs for South Africa this session and they’ve lost six wickets.
Umar Gul picked up his third wicket this morning to reduce South Africa to 329 for 6 on the second day of the first test against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday. Last 3 wickets lost for 12 runs.

Good first over for Pakistan 10/0
Yeah,he bats in a bubble as they say sometimes..
Pakistan is batting well off 8 overs 49/0
What the heck did we do this morning, Pakistan makes this pitch look so tame 73/0 after 14 overs is great going.
@ superBul:34 – Have no idea Super, but this is their openers so maybe it makes a difference. Our openers were also good. Though the rest fell very quick.
Back for the rugby. Going to eat lunch now.

Harris nearly sends Umar back with the last ball before tea. Quicker one, short of a length outside off and it hurries through as Umar shapes for a lazy cut. He is late on the shot, it whizzes past the outside edge and is close to the stumps as well.. An Ooh from Harris.. An Aah from Boucher.. No damage done. It is tea.
Finally we got a bloody wicket..

End of Day 2
Pakistans day for sure
144/2
Pakistan fought back superbly on the second day in Dubai firstly as the bowlers, led by Umar Gul, dismissed South Africa for 380 before the openers responded with an unbroken stand of 88 in 20 overs. Gul took three early wickets to change the course of South Africa’s innings before the spinners played their part and completed a collapse of 8 for 69.
Despite South Africa’s end result being considerably lower than expectations, Pakistan’s recent top-order woes suggested Graeme Smith’s side would still control the match. That wasn’t the case, though, with Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel below their best as Taufeeq Umar and Mohammad Hafeez brought up a rollicking fifty stand in the ninth over. Neither batsman was afraid to play his shots; Taufeeq drove handsomely down the ground while Hafeez pulled strongly against Steyn.
Botha to Younis Khan, OUT, gone! Younis goes, tossed up and he is the mood for hunting for runs, he’s been doing that successfully since morning but found the fielder, gets forward and chips it towards midwicket where de Villiers dives to his left to complete a sharp catch
Younis Khan c de Villiers b Botha 35 (85b 3×4 0x6) SR: 41.17
Super, You see that brilliant catch by Amla? Superb.
Yes that was great by Amla, he is a good very good cricketer
Botha to Umar Akmal, OUT
Umar Akmal c & b Botha 4 (5b 0x4 0x6) SR: 80.00
@ superBul:53 – Damn here at my pc and missed that.
Going back to the tv now. Catch up a bit later Super.
Botha to Umar Akmal, OUT, Akmal comes and goes, his attacking streak resulting in his downfall, tossed up and he was tempted, charged down the track and tried to swing it over midwicket, a mindless shot that, got the leading edge and Steyn took a dolly at point, Botha gets one more, the pressure builds on Pakistan now
Hi all. Lets hope we can break through with the new ball and get a first innings lead otherwise the game will just stagnate.
from 11:00 i will try and update the MTN matches too
