South Africa reasserted their control on the opening Test in Dubai with Johan Botha and Morne Morkel combining to run through Pakistan and earn their team a significant advantage which had been extended to 271 by the close. Botha took three wickets during the morning session in a teasing spell, then after lunch Morkel wrapped up the innings with the second new ball to finish with for 5 for 54 and leave South Africa well placed to push for victory

Pakistan’s session. Despite being a bowler short, they have evened out this contest at the end of the morning session on the second day. Gul kicked things off with three wickets, including that of AB with a lovely delivery that jagged in, and the spinners then stepped up. Just 54 runs for South Africa this session and they’ve lost six wickets.
Umar Gul picked up his third wicket this morning to reduce South Africa to 329 for 6 on the second day of the first test against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday. Last 3 wickets lost for 12 runs.

A century from Graeme Smith and put the Proteas in a commanding position at tea on day one of the first Test against Pakistan in Dubai. Smith scored 100 from 152 balls , strike/rate 65.78
Graeme Smiths 100 was backed up nicely by Peterson and Amla. Jacque Kallis on 53 and Paul Harris the night watchman on 0 will resume the innings tomorrow with South Africa in a good position.
