Wallaby playmaker Matt Giteau will get the chance to show his class when he captains a star-studded Barbarians against the Springboks at Twickenham on Saturday.

Giteau will feature at flyhalf in his third appearance for the BaaBaas and will want to make a strong impression having been dropped from the Australian starting line-up on their European tour by coach Robbie Deans.

Wow! I don’t know what game some of the reporters were watching, but I thought it was an excellent rugby match and classic Test match stuff! Hard, bruising tackles, rock solid defenses, no one giving an inch, and men dying for their inches…well amost. Continue reading

To be honest I am slightly dumbfounded after the loss against Scotland and the rather pathetic show against Wales. This year’s international rugby season was one colossal disappointment for me and I am really struggling to mount any enthusiasm about this weekend’s game.

I am bitterly disappointed with not only the type of rugby we play but also with our inability to execute our “game plan” if one can call it a plan. Continue reading

Presenting a Gallery of the top 10 most humiliating defeats under Peter de Villiers since his reign began as coach of the Springboks in 2008.

Peter de Villiers took over a World Cup winning team, and took them to Tri-Nations and British and Irish Lions glory, but along the way he has at times plumbed new Springbok lows and earned unwanted records especially in recent times where the Springboks have seemingly gone from World Champions to Chumps.

The Grand Slam dream is over. The one thing that could have redeemed the Boks and its management came to an embarrassing end on Saturday as the Springboks went down to the Scots, and as my three-year old would say; ‘Now what now?” Continue reading
