Coach Peter de Villiers on Tuesday made four changes to the Springbok starting XV and one positional switch for Saturday’s Test against Scotland at Murrayfield in Edinburgh. Zane Kirchner, Francois Hougaard, Lwazi Mvovo and Ryan Kankowski were all promoted to the starting line up while Gio Aplon moves from fullback to wing from the team that defeated Wales 29-25 in Cardiff on Saturday.

In addition hooker Adriaan Strauss and center Adi Jacobs are involved in a match-day 22 for this match on tour as they were drafted onto the bench.
Bjorn Basson’s injury and subsequent suspension made him unavailable for the right wing position and his place is taken by Gio Aplon, who moves from fullback. Aplon’s No 15 jersey is taken by Zane Kirchner who moves up from the bench.
Bryan Habana, originally chosen in the team for Saturday, fractured a bone in his left hand and as a result is out of the rest of the Tour, returning home now to South Africa.
Francois Hougaard is given the starting position at scrumhalf after his cameo performance from the bench on Saturday, while Ryan Kankowski comes straight into the starting XV at eighthman.
“We’ve got a talented squad and a long tour like this gives us an opportunity to try out a few options,” said Peter de Villiers.
“Francois Hougaard played well for us in the Vodacom Tri-Nations and did well when he came on on Saturday and brings a different style.
“Ryan is one of two talented eighthmen in the squad and we wanted to give him an opportunity to show us what he can do.”
The changes on the bench are caused by the departures of Basson and Chiliboy Ralepelle, who returned a positive test for a banned stimulant following the Test against Ireland on November 6.
Adriaan Strauss comes onto the bench as the replacement hooker and the uncapped Lwazi Mvovo takes the place of Bryan Habana as left wing, with Adi Jacobs as backline replacement.
De Villiers added that the squad had now put the shock of the positive results behind them.
“There is a process in place in these cases and that is now being followed. As a squad we have moved on and are focusing only on Scotland.”

hmmmm, rather hoped to see alberts, lambie and mvovo start this week
but
its results pdv is after and if you take that into account, theres not much wrong with the team for this game
Snorrie’s determined to give Bryan Habana his try for that elusive personal record…
Bit of a conundrum, if we hope Habana gets his try so that henceforth a left wing could be chosen on merit, then Snorrie will think Habana has redeemed himself and will continue to pick him… if we hope that Habana again fails miserably then it will cost the Bokke.
Between a rock and a hard place.
Best we can hope for is for Mvovo to get enough game time and play out of his socks for those minutes… force his way in…. and if I’m really baaaaddddd or evil-minded I could say I hope Habana is injured, sorry for this one but he’s had more chances than Lindsay Lohan has had at sobriety…. I’m not serious by the way.
Personally I would have started with Alberts ahead of Kankowski at No 8, Flip ahead of Bakkies at No 4 (just to see what Flip does when he gets a start). Would also have rested Morné and let Lambie have a full go, with Elton on the bench as cover and of course had Mvovo in for Hasbeenbanana…
Anyway, Midrand is calling… chat later.

“Would also have rested Morné and let Lambie have a full go, with Elton on the bench as cover”
..
dont you think that wouldve been a bit risky?
spook daai drie nie dalk so by branana dat dit dit is wat al die kakkas veroorsaak nie?
smallies @ 4
got the impression that habana WANTED to score that try last week … think some fan last week had a go at him on twitter and i got the impression habana wanted to rub his face in it by scoring that try … if i’ve read the situation correctly, then i’m a bit worried about the mental state of habana at the moment!! 😯
Habana out for tour.
De Villiers added that the squad had now put the shock of the positive results behind them.
I found the above quote from the writer quite amusing!!
gbs … see what you’ve done?? 😯

from news24
Edinburgh – Bryan Habana was forced out of the Springbok tour of Britain and Ireland on Tuesday because of a hand injury.
Habana fractured a bone in his left hand during morning practice and will return to South Africa shortly. His place in Saturday’s team is taken by Lwazi Mvovo – who is promoted from the bench – while the experienced Adi Jacobs joins the replacements.
Habana suffered the injury during a defensive drill when he fell awkwardly on his hand after tackling Morne Steyn.
The injury reduces the tour squad to 27 players. An announcement on replacements will be issued in due course.

Well, all I can say is that he didnt need tackling practise, he needed positioning practise.
lets see how the new laaitie goes….MOVEOVER (Mvovo)
Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaaa
Mvovo gets a startttttttttt.
Hibby Jibbi, maybe I jinxed Bryan Habana…. my karma is stroooonnnnggggggg!
Article updated….
Sorry for the jubelation but I cannot help but be happy about the cruel turn of fortunes.
Nothing but injury was going to cause Habana to lose his place, the gods must be smiling upon Snorrie, they are assisting him…. first it was the rain against Ireland, now the injury to Habana.
Now we should klap Scotland, well and solid…
Hehehe, maybe Kanko can tweak a mustle, causing Alberts to start at No 8…..
Shit, I’m naughty….. sorry folks.
…all in all, a stronger and stronger Bokke team is picked as the Tour progresses…
First we had a right wing at fullback, a left wing at right wing, no No 13 Center, a wonky left wing and an overseas based player at scrummie…
Then we had a right wing at fullback, a left wing at right wing, a real center back at No 13, a wonky left wing and the overseas based scrummie was subbed with 20 min to go in game 2.
Now we have a fullback at fullback, a right wing at right wing, 2 proper centers, a proper left wing at left wing and our best halfback pairing…..
It’s getting better and better, by the minute…. we might just make the Grand Slam, the way things are going.
…. now we only need a new backline coach and head coach…..
Who wants to take me on at a bet…. I say Mvovo will score a try (or more than one) on debut…. at left wing, where Habana cannot even score a decent tackle…

So ook Bakkies.
Gaan kyk mooi….
@ grootblousmile:
Stem 100% saam GBS.
grootblousmile wrote:
Face dit. En as jou liggaam vars en jonk is, genees dit baie vinneger van beserings as wanner jy ouer is. So ek sal bv nie verbaas wees dat ouens soos Smit 3 maande vat om van ‘n besering nou te herstel, in teenstelling met, kom ons se, 2 maande, toe hy jonger was nie.
27@ Greenpoint-Gunner:
Engeland se voorspelers is egter sterk… ek sien moeilikheid oor 2 weke…
