WP (13) 31 / Cheetahs (0) 7 (Final Score)

Vodacom WP hosted Vodacom Free State Cheetahs at Newlands, Cape Town at 17:05 on Saturday 16 October 2010. This is the match thread for discussion of the game. The match was broadcast live on SuperSport 1, SSHD & M-Net on TV in SA.

A bit of a shaky start from the kickers on both sides eventually saw Willem de Waal regaining confidence and WP becoming stronger and stronger as the game progressed.

At halftime WP was already 13 / 0 in the lead which prompted them to run more freely and the tries came. Eventually with WP 31 / 0 ahead, a simple WP mistake saw Philip Snyman score a consolation try to avoid a nasty Cheetahs whitewash.

To rights the Cheetahs tried hard but there was always only one winner.

Final score WP 31 / 7.Β

Scores:

WP: 2 Conversions & 4 Penalties Willem de Waal, 1 Try Bryan Habana, 1 Try Francois Louw, 1 Try Gio Aplon

Cheetahs: 1 Conversion Sias Ebersohn, 1 Try Philip Snyman

Eish, Lawrence, Louw kom van die kant af in.

  • 62

Fewer minutes left than points needed by the Staat

  • 63

Lawrence, haal so bietjie jou WP bril af en luister na Juan, hy ken die reels beter as jy.

    60@ Blue Bird:
Why would Wooden Spoon insult me like that?

  • 65

Puma, get your self back here…..These guys are going all serious on me!!

    Yawnnnnnnn πŸ™

  • 66

60: what are they doing at the dark side, having the biggest party ever because the Bulls lost ?

  • 67

    Try Aplon, made by Habana

  • 68

    @ grootblousmile:
πŸ™‚ – Old Transie is OK.

  • 69

    WP 31 / ZIP

Looking bloody ugly for the Staat!

  • 70

    Habana lyk al heelwat beter.

  • 71

    @ bdb:
It seems surprisingly good natured there at the moment…It is only a matter of time tho!! πŸ™‚

  • 72

    68@ Blue Bird:
Apart him being brainless and confused, you might be right…. hehehe

  • 73

  • 77

    Try Philip Snyman… consolation

    WP 31 / 7

    At least not a whitewash

  • 78

Vrystaat ! Is dit die begin van ‘n comeback ? …

  • 79

    @ grootblousmile:
There are others who deserve that particular title!!
    Anyway, enough of that!
I have to get ready for a night out with friends…..”Bring it On”

    Have a good evening all.

WP win as Dewaldt Duvenage boots the ball into touch.

    24-point margin

  • 83

  • 84

Congratulations to WP, by far the best team on the park today.

Sharks / WP final in Durban…. will be interesting.

  • 85

OK folks… see you tomorrow or Monday.

Have fun, celebrate well. To supporters from the losing sides, chin up… the sun will shine again.

  • 86

    What a day
    That Bee wait killed me.
    The Sharks outplayed us.

Had to babysit 4 grand kids, 9y, 5y, 1y3m and 7months in the middle of all this rugby. The Bulls game was OK but the timing of the WP game was right in the baby wash , trying to put them to bed etc. One great lesson i knew but i saw it all again.

GET YOUR KIDS WHEN YOU ARE YOUNG

great privilege to help my kids by looking after the young ones but boy o boy your freedom is gone. Babies rule your time. Anyway i did not watch more than 20 minutes of the WP game , the score looks great. Will comment after i watched the replay.

Congrats to the SHARKS and WESTERN PROVINCE

    @ bdb:
well i am more than glad that we have a bye πŸ˜† in the final, i would have hated it if the Springbok coach took my players to train under him and Dick in the middle of a CC finals campaign.
