Congrats…. a narrow & scrappy win but a win nonetheless.

  • 152

Congratulations ABs on a great win. They did just enough to win the game in an exciting manner. Ten straight wins, a quality side!!!

Commisserations on the loss…. close though.

3rd week in a row that the Wallabies squander a healthy lead.

    @ Pietman:
The better team won on the night, but I’m excited at seeing our wallas fight so hard and I know they get better every game.

Giteau’s kicking was deplorable. Piet Visagie could have thrown the ball over…..

You’re always a good sport, brother…. wish some would learn.

9 straight wins away from home…

    @ grootblousmile:
Indeed, the wallas have squandered a big lead, as you say. However, tonight’s effort was a solid one, given long haul flights and 3 matches in a row. You know what, old mate? I feel the wallas have reached another level; their play is extraordinary and shows the ABs do, in fact, have opposition in next year’s world cup.

All Blacks well on their way to the record for wins in a row…. think it currently stands at 17 or 18

I agree…. Wallas are improving every game.

Was a solid performance from them though and I’m sometimes gob-smacked by their ability to break defence open and score scintilating tries.

Should the Bokke sharpen up their defence, then the All Blacks have opposition from 2 angles…. and then there’s the French….

    @ grootblousmile:
Thanks mate, I love the excitement of the field of endeavour and I have the outmost respect for our Kiwi brothers. Once again, our great game is the real winner on the night, and I love it!!!!!!!!!

Too right, GBS. Those frogs aren’t over there just eating chateau-briand and drinking Dom Perignon, although if I was there, that’s what I’d be doing. They may well be the silent assassin’s next year.

come again????? I think you overrate the Wallabies a bit here and whta’s more, the AB’s know their biggest competition will be the French – they have their number almost every RWC, and the Boks – given our 5 players not playing this year and deadwood in the coaching team.
So yes the AB’s have plenty of competition. And they are peaking this year, it’s months from next year’s RWC.

  • 163

@ ps in CT: peaking? lol

@ grootblousmile: cheers GBS… an ugly win though, Aussies showed they have gained some belief… Giteau cost them another test…

  • 164

    @ ps in CT:
G’day PS. Indeed, I might be guilty of overrating the wallas and, as I said a few posts earlier, the French play an exciting brand of rugby and will be primed for a big effort next year.

The boks do certainly have their domestic problems to sort out, but even then, they can never be ruled out, the title of current world champions is still theirs.

I say: sell your house; sell your car; sell the family jewels, but BE in New Zealand next year for an enthralling Rugby World Cup

  • 165

    @ nga puhi:
yeah peaking mate. They are clearly the team of the season and I won’t even bother if politicians decide this year again to make an AB the player of the year last last year. They actually deserve it this year……

  • 166

Well done All Blacks. Congrats to Nga and RP on their teams win.

  • 167

Well done AB’s it was really an exciting game! Phew but I am relieved ( or sometimes grieved) to be a Bok supporter!

  • 168

    @ nga puhi:
Congrats nga puhi, great result for the ABs – what an exciting match. It was a blue blood team up against a team of youngsters and newcomers, with the experts winning in the end. Truly enjoyable. However, I feel the best is yet to come from the exciting wallas. Arohanui ABs!!!!

    @ Old Griquas 14 in Sydney:164 – OldG,

Yip, I too think it will be a awesome world cup in NZ next year. A true rugby country like South Africa. Think we wont be seeing another world cup in a really true rugby country for so many years. We should all make the effort to get to NZ next year. By the time SA get it again might be in 2023. Who knows about what the future brings. Will we be fit to travel then. Or even be here for it? So next year I really want to go to NZ for the world cup. Really hoping to get there.

Very close game for your Wallabies OldG. Think the two tests at altitude and the travel took its toll as well. Another from behind win for the ABs. Can never count them out ever.

OK, Lions vs Griquas game thread is on and a game thread for the clash between the Cheetahs and Blue Bulls is scheduled.

@ Old Griquas 14 in Sydney:
ah OGiS i could only wish….

that would be the thrill of a lifetime….but alas i would probably have to deal with it through DSTv again. You realise what they charge for RWC packages so far? Doubt it if i could get enough liquidity by selling everything i own….

But i am also excited by a number of players in the Wallabies showing steel, but their decision making and defence is not good though. They need to back up their lethal attacking abilities with proper defence. How they lost their lead last Saturday is unbelievable. And today as well.

And i desperately wanted them to win this one, believe me. Just to shut a few gobs….

Boks playing with a strenght full team, leaving tired players out and they will be similar to what we experienced in the S14. With a coaching team who actually know what they are doing.

  • 172

    @ ps in CT:
if you think that was the performance of a team that is “peaking” then I misunderstand you.. ABs made 5 changes, 6 when Mealamu went off.. they scraped a win when they should have lost..

  • 173

Helloooooo ps in CT! Good to catch up here again….

  • 174

@ nga puhi:172 – Nga, Agree with you there buddy.

Just knew ABs would come back after they got it to 16/22 Far too much experience in that side. Also Wallabies would have been dead on their feet after playing two altitude games and having to travel.

Had ABs by 5 on bru.

  • 175

    @ Puma:
yeah I had them by 14, so just lucky.. may hold on to 3rd place 😀

was a good test for our youngsters thouh..

  • 176

    @ ps in CT:
As long as you’re watching next year mate, you’ll enjoy the event no matter what.

As a committed wallas fan, I don’t feel like tonight’s loss is the end of the world; so many quality players returning soon, and I can see where Deans is heading. Exciting times for the wallas ahead, I’m certain.

  • 177

    @ Muurbal:
hello mb, off to siesta now

    @ nga puhi:
their performance this year is a team peaking. It is end of the season of the 3N. Therefore the way they won speaks for itself, everybody is tired at this stage. Hell look at the Boks who played in the S14 final, they did not have a good 3N at ALL!
But i understand you viewpoint, it would be sooooo Kiwi to start worrying now about that same tag our Proteas carry these last number of years, uhm make that decade.
Nevermind, imho they are the international team of the year and worked hard for it, well done.

  • 178

@ nga puhi:175 – You doing well on bru. I go with my heart with the Boks so lost out there.

  • 179

@ Old Griquas 14 in Sydney:
last question before i leave, will the Australian public and rugby politicians “forgive” him though?

    @ ps in CT:
mmmmmm …. the life away from reality! Enjoy!
