Earl and Jody Rose are set to sign for an overseas club because of the lack of interest and opportunities in South Africa.

Their agent Johan Germishuys confirmed that the Rose brothers will look to play in France or Scotland.

“Earl returned from the Boks’ 2009 year-end tour with his reputation enhanced,” Germishuys said.

“‘For some reason he lost form … and his self confidence. I had a long chat with both Earl and Jody and (we) decided to look abroad.

Germishuys added: “The player that he (Earl Rose) was at the end of last year is the standard that we are marketing, because that is the standard I believe he can again achieve.”

Earlier in the week it was reported Earl Rose’s comeback to Currie Cup rugby as a player on loan to the Leopards has been put “on ice” after he failed to pitch for a training session.

Rose was due to join the Leopards from the Lions for the rest of the competition. His absence is believed to have something to do with him expecting – or hoping for – a Blue Bulls contract.

He is not in new Lions coach John Mitchell’s plans and since the Super 14 he has played for club side Raiders. His move to the Leopards would have been a chance to escape the rugby wilderness.
