The 21-year-old was red carded by referee Chris Pollock after an alleged high tackle on Northland’s replacement scrumhalf Luke Hamilton, six minutes from full time. Counties Manukau won the match 40 – 24.
NZRU Judicial Officer Peter Hobbs will hear the charge against Lee at the NZRU offices in Wellington.
“It was hard to tackle him because he was a little bugger. I knew he was going to step back so I put my arm out there,” said Lee after the game.
“I was pretty shocked. I was hoping for a yellow. That’s the first time I’ve got a red. Hopefully it won’t finish my season,” he added.
Jeeeeeeeeeees…. how doff was that one!!
Unreal really. How he got up after that tackle is a mystery, thought his head could have come off. Agree with that commentator, Luke must be a tough player to have gotten up. Could have had his neck broken.
Fritz Lee has to be given the max for that. No more rugby for this season I think. No excuse to tackle like that small player or not. That kinda stuff must be rid of in rugby.

Yip…. I think the tackler’s one brain cell was damaged whilst the other one fell of the cork, for him to tackle like that.
Why a penalty try was’nt awarded is beyond me as well.
Hi to all bloggers….
This is unbelievable…… how stupid can you be and it is written all over his face…”duh!!!!”
Yep, you could call that a brain fart, if he had a brain.
Geez, could you imagine if that was Bakkies or Schalk Burger in a S15 or International.
They’d get banned for life.
@ Scrumdown:
and then would come the conspiracy theories.
Fark me sideways, Fritz Lee only received a 3 WEEK BAN.
Man, this is stupid!
@ grootblousmile:
The ban was imposed after Lee appeared before New Zealand Rugby Union judicial officer Peter Hobbs in Wellington on Wednesday.
Hobbs said that while there was no pre-meditation on Lee’s part, the tackle was reckless and exposed Hamilton to the risk of serious injury.
Just because it looked spectacular?
Really give me some stats on any serious long term injury in tackles like that.
The angle at witch he was hit made it look more serious.
Take it slow, and you will see it was never life threatening , i feel NZ judge had it perfectly right 3 weeks is enough.
I know some of you would say now SBul you are mad , what if the guy was killed? What if. Off course that possibility is there in a collision sport.
The clean outs at rucks is far far more dangerous.

Compare this tackle and sanction to recent almost trivial and supposed tip-tackles or spear tackles… amongst others those of Jean de Villiers, Jaque Fourie or even to the head butt by Bakkies and tell me honestly this tackle was’nt FARRRRRRRRR MORE DANGEROUS and calous and reckless than those incidents combined, then we’ll talk again!
What if’s do not work or count….
The serious nature of how this tackle was executed is what counts!
Fritz Lee is bloody lucky…. very bloody lucky.
It is all about perception boys.

Laat ek try in my Taal , netnou word ek soos my Pel  verkeerd verstaan.
Dit was n refleks uitsteek so dit was nie juis so bedoel nie.
Kyk n ‘cleanout’ sit jy gewoonlik skouer in , lei soms met die hand(moet eintlik altyd) maar sit skouer in. So die speler word getref deur jou hele gewig en momentum. So refleks hand is omtrent net gevaarlik as hy jou keel of oe vang. Ja die straf is gepas en ja dit moet uitgeroei word.
My punt is net dit is nie THE WORST TACKLE EVER nie.
en 3 weke vir n eerste is heel gepas.
ok i read the heading wrong too
“one of the”
was missed and
“high tackles” too.
