The Chiefs announced today that Canterbury lock and 2010 Crusader Isaac Ross will be joining the Chiefs playing squad for the 2011 Super Rugby competition.
Head Coach Ian Foster said “we are delighted with Isaac Ross coming to the Chiefs. It gives us a strong depth in the locking area with Craig Clarke, Culum Retallick and new signing Hayden Triggs which is going to be vital when going into a 16 game competition”.
“He is an experienced footballer at a provincial, Super Rugby and international level and he has impressed us with his desire to improve his game”.
Ross debuted for his regional side Canterbury in 2006 where he has played 46 games to date. He debuted for the Crusaders in 2007 against the Cheetahs and in 2009 played his first game for the All Blacks against France. After narrowly missing out on the All Blacks’ mid-year tour this year, Ross joined the New Zealand Maori squad for the Sealord Centenary Series.
Isaac Ross said: “I am really excited about the move up north as this is a good change for me. I’ve heard Fozzie is a great coach and I’m looking forward to working with him along with players such as Liam Messam who I’ve come through most of the national age grades with and played with in the New Zealand Maori with this year”.
Ross joins former Highlander Hayden Triggs and former Hurricane Scott Waldrom in the latest additions to the 2011 Chief’s squad.
