Free State Cheetahs wing Lionel Mapoe, was on Wednesday ordered by a Bloemfontein Court to report at the Cheetahs by Thursday 15:00.
The Court Order follows an Arbitration Ruling after Lionel Mapoe joined the Sharks while still contracted to the Cheetahs.
Mapoe would be able to play for the Cheetahs from Thursday.
Hopefully this makes the matter clear now, after 2 Rulings against Mapoe and hopefully Mapoe now heeds the results of the Court and returns to the Cheetahs.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!!!!!!
Whats the point of having a player back who wanted to go somewhere else, will he be forced to play, do you cheetah fans want him back? Whatever the rights and wrongs about this one it is such a pity that someone who is supposed to have been a talented up and coming player has been wasting his talent off the field.
@ Bullscot:
point is he was skelm in dealing with the sharks he is only reaping wat he sowed
If Cheetahs get Sharks in semi or final play him against them. They wont hurt one of their own, they invested too much in him. 😆
Justice!!!!!!!!It is time that players and the poaching unions learn what a valid contract is.
The Cheetahs should just cancel his contract and kick his arse out. I would not want him playing for us in any case.
@ smallies72:
Yeah smallies you may think he was skelm but I still can’t see what good it will do to have him back, surely when he is back the Cheetahs will have to pay him a salary which means he will have to do some work ie. practise, even maybe play, and what kind of atmosphere will there be around the place if you are forcing someone to do something? Unless the plan is to pay him to do nothing or maybe get him ‘injured’ in his 1st practice…

This Mapoe saga must be the light to follow in future as far as both players and Provinces and Agents are concerned in future regarding dealings with contracted players…
I like the fact that an example is set, a precedent created and firm battle lines drawn.
If Mapoe as a player has to be the casualty (his own doing) in the process, then so be it.
Contracts are contracts, right is right and wrong remains wrong…. even if he never plays rugby again or absconds to rugby league or whatever.
Me thinks the only use the Cheetahs will get out of Mapoe in the next 12 months, is as a life tackle bag, he runs and evryone else must catch him and tackle him. Not getting hurt by a tackle will most likely be his only motivation.
Well i’m delighted with the outcome. Who wants a player playing for his team with Mapoe’s values. He will bring the Cheetahs no luck, and if they are clever about it, they will play him at club level.
And don’t think the Sharks supporters supported this circus with Mapoe, just as the average Bok supporter do not support the current circus within SA rugby.
So we lost some money, wtf, there is much more to make out there.
Finish en Klaar!
